Construction Labourer – Student Summer Job



The position:

This is a 16-week placement (summer).

Reporting to the Lead Carpenter and Foreman, The Student Construction Labourer is responsible for assisting the construction crew as needed for the completion of various construction projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Duties:

  • Follow directions and perform tasks as directed by Carpenter or Foreman.
  • Responsible for keeping worksite clean and safe. Ensure project sites are clean, organized, and free of hazards. At the end of each day ensure site is clean, tidy, tools and equipment stored and locked in appropriate sea cans.
  • Assist Carpenter with measuring, cutting, shaping, assembling, and joining materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials.
  • Perform basic carpentry tasks.
  • Load and unload construction materials and move around the worksite.
  • Take pride in the quality of your work, Be the best you can be by being alert, lively, positive, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable.
  • Be responsible for and take care of any company equipment assigned to you including third party rentals. The condition of company equipment says a lot about who we are, and the core values we believe in.



Skills Required:

  • Basic carpentry skills.
  • High school graduation.
  • Be enrolled in a university or trade school accredited degree or diploma.
  • Prior general laborer construction experience.
  • Capable of lifting at least 50lbs.
  • Physically fit and able to work on your feet 8-10 hours per day. You need physical stamina that allows you lift, climb, stand, or bend for long periods of time.
  • Eye hand coordination. The ability to do activities that require simultaneously the use of hands and eyes.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract.
  • Criminal background check required.
  • Truck | Trailer experience.
