About Seminal

Seminal Artist Group is the world's first label dedicated to visual artists. We identify and develop artists' practices, helping them transform their work into products that forge deep, personal, and emotive connections with fans worldwide. With offices and partners across more than 20 countries, Seminal unlocks the global earning power of art by connecting today's most compelling visual artists to the world's leading brands, retailers, and manufacturers.

Our team spans Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, China, Korea, Japan, Singapore, India, Sri Lanka, and beyond. We move fast, think globally, and operate at the intersection of art, culture, commerce, and technology.

Seminal is a technology-driven company. Data sits at the core of how we operate, make decisions, and grow. From artist analytics to licensing performance to global market intelligence, we run on information and the people who know how to use it.

The Role

We are looking for a highly motivated, commercially driven, and entrepreneurial Head of Consumer Product Licensing - North America to lead Seminal's consumer products licensing business across the region. This role is responsible for building new licensing revenue across categories, developing relationships with leading licensees and retailers, and expanding the reach of Seminal's growing catalogue of artists and artworks across North America, Canada, and Latin America.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can combine strategic thinking with direct sales execution. The successful candidate will work across manufacturers, retailers, agencies, and internal teams to identify opportunities, build partnerships, develop market strategies, and represent Seminal in the region. Over time, the role will also build and lead a broader licensing team as the business scales.

Reporting

Reports to the Global Head of Licensing & Partnerships and works closely with the Founder & CEO, regional sales and creative teams, and other key internal stakeholders across Seminal.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver new business across consumer product categories through both manufacturers and direct-to-retail relationships.
  • Work with the Global Head of Licensing & Partnerships and the Founder & CEO to identify global and regional licensing opportunities.
  • Use existing industry relationships to promote the benefits and capabilities of the Seminal platform and identify new sales opportunities domestically and internationally.
  • Develop and refine strategies to grow and diversify Seminal's artwork licensing business.
  • Lead the development, management, and motivation of licensing agency partnerships.
  • Identify new agent and referral opportunities where additional market coverage is required.
  • As the business scales, recruit and build a licensing team capable of servicing agencies and licensees directly.
  • Act as a Seminal ambassador in the region and identify opportunities to raise the profile of the company, its licensing platform, and the value of art within licensing.
  • Conduct strategic technology, market, and business research and develop recommendations in close collaboration with internal colleagues and external service providers.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to develop marketing materials, sales tools, and presentations that support agency and direct sales activity.
  • Attend relevant trade events, conferences, and client meetings domestically and internationally while operating within agreed budgets.
  • Provide clear reports, presentations, and communications so the management team remains informed of significant licensing activity, opportunities, and developments.

Skills

Commercial & Licensing Skills

  • Deep knowledge of the licensing landscape, ecosystem, market trends, and key industry participants.
  • Strong new-business development capability across third-party licensing and direct-to-retail opportunities.
  • Excellent negotiation, deal interpretation, commercial analysis, and revenue/profit modelling skills.
  • Ability to develop licensing strategies and translate them into practical commercial execution.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with licensees, retailers, agencies, and senior decision-makers.

Leadership & Execution Skills

  • Entrepreneurial, self-directed, and comfortable operating with limited day-to-day direction.
  • Hands-on leadership style with a willingness to lead from the front in sales and partner development.
  • Strong organization and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, including the confidence to represent Seminal at industry forums, conferences, and partner meetings.
  • Ability to work effectively across cultures, languages, backgrounds, and global time zones.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of IP licensing experience with a demonstrable record of delivering third-party and direct licensing deals.
  • Demonstrated success building and leading licensing partnership programs.
  • Established relationships with in-market professionals and key decision-makers across the U.S. licensing ecosystem.
  • Ability to travel for trade shows, conferences, partner meetings, and other business requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with senior leaders and geographically distributed teams across multiple time zones.
  • Available to work full-time and able to start immediately or as soon as practicable.
  • Legally authorized to live and work in the United States.

Highly Valued

  • Experience across multiple consumer product categories such as fashion, CPG, homewares, toys, collectibles, beauty, gaming, entertainment, and publishing.
  • Experience managing licensing agencies or agent networks.
  • Experience building or scaling a regional licensing team.
  • Experience working in a technology-enabled licensing, creative, media, or consumer products business.
  • International licensing experience across North America, Canada, Latin America, or broader global markets.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Commercially ambitious and motivated by building a licensing business, not simply maintaining existing accounts.
  • Brings an established industry network and knows how to turn relationships into new opportunities.
  • Can move comfortably between strategy, partner management, direct sales, and detailed execution.
  • Thrives in a dynamic, complex partner ecosystem and takes ownership without requiring heavy structure.
  • Is excited by art, technology, consumer products, and the opportunity to expand how visual artists participate in global licensing.
