We are seeking a highly experienced and driven Automotive System Engineer to strengthen the engineering foundation of our infrastructure-based LiDAR perception system. As automotive customer demand grows and compliance expectations rise, we are committed to meeting the quality and process standards of the automotive industry. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in functional safety and system engineering, with a proven track record of driving ISO 26262 compliance and ASPICE process adoption. You will lead the build-out of our safety architecture, requirements engineering, and organizational readiness to ensure our product meets the highest automotive standards.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Assess and close the gap between current development practices and automotive engineering standards (ASPICE, ISO 26262), and define a structured roadmap to achieve compliance.
- →Establish and formalize requirements engineering processes and system architecture documentation, ensuring stakeholder needs are fully traceable from capture through to design and implementation.
- →Build and own the functional safety lifecycle for the product: conduct HARA, derive safety goals, define the Technical Safety Concept (TSC), and specify safety requirements targeting ISO 26262 compliance.
- →Perform safety analyses including FMEA and SOTIF operational scenario analysis to systematically identify risks and derive safety mechanisms.
- →Define and refine the Technical Safety Concept (TSC) and safety mechanisms in alignment with derived safety goals.
- →Prepare and maintain safety work products (Safety Plan, HARA, TSC, TSR, validation reports) to achieve certification.
- →Interface with automotive customers on safety and process inquiries - translate the team's engineering practices into formal safety case documentation and compliance summaries.
- →Lead and drive ASPICE process establishment across all relevant engineering areas, setting up the organizational framework and championing consistent adoption throughout the team.
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Computer Science, Automotive, or Mechanical Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience in system engineering or functional safety engineering within the automotive, robotics, or safety-critical systems domain.
- Demonstrated knowledge of ISO 26262 and/or ISO 21448 (SOTIF), with practical experience applying these standards to real product development.
- Experience in conducting safety analyses such as HARA, FMEA, or FTA.
- Strong communication skills - able to articulate safety concepts clearly to both engineering teams and automotive customers.
- Comfortable working in an environment where processes are being built rather than inherited, and where your decisions set the precedent.
- Experience with ASPICE process assessments or working in an ASPICE-aligned development environment.
- Hands-on experience with LiDAR, camera, or other perception sensor systems.
- Exposure to safety analysis tools such as Medini Analyze and IQ-FMEA.
- Experience interfacing directly with automotive customers (OEMs or Tier-1s), including safety audits or process assessments.
- Familiarity with Linux-based systems and scripting (Python, Bash) for log analysis or test support.
- Experience introducing or improving engineering processes in a team transitioning toward automotive standards.
- Knowledge of V2X, smart infrastructure, or autonomous ground vehicle systems is a plus.
