You’ll be working on some of the most high-profile water infrastructure projects in the industry, helping to secure Water for Life for generations to come.

 

As an Operations Engineer Supply System, you will provide technical expertise and operational engineering support to ensure the safe, efficient and reliable operation of the bulk water transport system, meeting business, customer and regulatory requirements. You will optimise system performance through key operational frameworks, investigate operational and supply issues, support risk reduction and continuity of supply, and provide technical advice to optimise Water Grid assets, including during emergency supply events. You will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the bulk water transport system.

This role is responsible for:

  • Provide technical and operational engineering support to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the bulk water transport system.
  • Investigate operational issues, analyse system performance, identify risks, and develop practical solutions to improve reliability and water quality outcomes.
  • Review and support the operational delivery of new infrastructure, asset modifications and maintenance activities, ensuring continuity of supply and effective project outcomes.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, contractors and water retailer partners to plan operational works, resolve technical issues and optimise system performance.
  • Prepare technical reports, operational documentation and engineering recommendations to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Provide operational engineering expertise during incidents and emergency supply events, including participation in the 24/7 on-call roster.
  • Contribute to a strong safety culture by complying with health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.

 

Appointment to this role is subject to the provision of a national police check and may be subject to other medical/character requirements. Please note that people with criminal records are not automatically deemed ineligible. Each application will be considered on its merits.

 

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering with significant experience in water treatment, distribution and operational engineering.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in a related role, with strong knowledge of water operations, maintenance, regulatory requirements and the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.
  • Current RPEQ registration (or ability to obtain) in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience using process control systems and operational data to support technical decision-making.
  • Sound knowledge of safety, risk management, drinking water quality and relevant management systems.
  • Current C Class Driver Licence.
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status (desirable).
  • Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety, environmental and EEO legislation (desirable).
