Job Summary
Under the direction of the Assistant Director, Events Center Operations, the Custodial Operations Supervisor oversees the day-to-day custodial operations for the Provident Credit Union Event Center. The position serves as the primary liaison to the contracted custodial services provider, ensuring facilities are maintained in accordance with Student Union standards while supporting event operations, inventory management, quality assurance, and facility readiness. The Custodial Operations Supervisor assists the Assistant Director by coordinating custodial operations, managing contracted service providers, supporting event operations, monitoring operational performance, and serving as the operational steward of facility presentation to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, staff, clients, and visitors.

- Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily custodial operations for Student Union-managed facilities.
- Ensure facilities are maintained in accordance with Student Union cleanliness, safety, and appearance standards.
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure facilities remain clean, safe, and operationally ready.
- Identify operational deficiencies and coordinate timely corrective actions.
- Support the development and implementation of custodial standards, procedures, and best practices.
Contractor Management:
- Serve as the primary liaison between Student Union, Inc. and contracted custodial service providers.
- Conduct routine meetings with contractor leadership to review operational needs, staffing, and service expectations.
- Assist with onboarding and training contracted custodial personnel on Student Union operational standards, event operations, safety procedures, and customer service expectations.
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with contractual service standards.
- Coordinate corrective actions related to service deficiencies.
- Maintain positive working relationships with contractors while holding vendors accountable for service expectations.
Event Support:
- Coordinate custodial staffing and operational support for events and special programs.
- Participate in event planning meetings to identify custodial staffing, equipment, waste management, and facility preparation needs.
- Coordinate custodial operational plans for commencements, concerts, athletic competitions, high-profile events, and campus programs.
- Coordinate emergency custodial response during events to ensure continuity of operations and a positive guest experience.
- Collaborate with Event Operations staff to support successful event execution.
Inventory & Procurement:
- Maintain inventory of custodial supplies, equipment, chemicals, and consumable products.
- Prepare purchase requests and monitor inventory levels to ensure operational readiness.
- Coordinate deliveries, organize storage areas, and maintain inventory records.
- Recommend and evaluate custodial equipment, supplies, and technologies to improve operational efficiency and asset longevity.
- Maintain custodial equipment inventory and lifecycle replacement schedules.
Facility Operations Support:
- Conduct routine facility condition assessments.
- Coordinate follow-up on facility deficiencies and maintenance concerns.
- Assist with work order prioritization and coordination.
- Coordinate minor maintenance and custodial improvement projects.
- Support preventive maintenance initiatives.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and campus partners as assigned.
- Assist with building opening, closing, and facility readiness procedures.
- Coordinate facility improvement projects, deep cleaning initiatives, seasonal facility transitions, and operational enhancement projects.
- Coordinate with Maintenance, Event Operations, Security, Athletics, Risk Management, Environmental Health & Safety, vendors, and campus partners to support facility readiness and operational coordination.
- Serve as the operational steward for facility presentation, ensuring public and back-of-house spaces consistently meet Student Union standards for cleanliness, organization, safety, and event readiness.
Customer Service
- Respond to facility cleanliness concerns from campus partners, clients, and building occupants.
- Coordinate timely resolution of custodial service requests.
- Promote a positive customer experience through proactive facility readiness and responsiveness.
Safety & Compliance
- Promote safe work practices and maintain compliance with applicable safety regulations.
- Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and custodial chemical inventories.
- Support OSHA, IIPP, and environmental health and safety compliance efforts.
- Report safety concerns and coordinate corrective actions.
- Participate in emergency response planning and operational response efforts.
- Coordinate custodial response and recovery efforts during facility emergencies in collaboration with campus partners, contractors, and emergency personnel.
- Support sustainability initiatives by promoting waste diversion, recycling, composting, and environmentally responsible custodial practices.
Administration
- Maintain custodial operating procedures, inspection reports, and operational documentation.
- Assist in developing cleaning standards, schedules, and operational guidelines.
- Prepare monthly operational reports and track custodial performance metrics.
- Assist with development and management of the custodial operating budget, including tracking expenditures, reviewing contractor invoices, and providing recommendations for annual budget planning and equipment replacement.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), analyze operational trends, and recommend process improvements to enhance service delivery and operational effectiveness.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive custodial inspection and quality assurance program, including documenting recurring deficiencies, tracking corrective actions, and monitoring contractor performance.
- Maintain contractor performance records and inspection documentation.
- Attend departmental meetings and planning sessions.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve custodial operations, operational efficiency, sustainability, and customer service.
- Recommend process improvements that enhance facility operations, contractor performance, and overall service delivery.
- Support departmental initiatives that improve operational effectiveness and customer satisfaction.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
