The Vice President, Regional Operations provides executive leadership for all data center facilities operations within an assigned geographic region, ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of services that consistently exceeds hyperscale customer expectations. This role is accountable for operational performance, financial results, workforce leadership, contractual execution, incident response, and consistent implementation of the company's Operational Management System (OMS) across multiple campuses.

This position develops high-performing regional teams, manages operational risk, and converts corporate standards and customer commitments into disciplined site execution. Working in close partnership with the Directors of Operational Excellence and Customer Excellence, the VP ensures operational results, customer priorities, and enterprise improvement initiatives remain aligned with the company's growth strategy.

  • Provide executive leadership for all assigned data center facilities and ensure safe, reliable, compliant, and efficient operation of critical infrastructure.
  • Own regional operational results, including SLA achievement, preventive maintenance completion, work-order performance, incident response, staffing, overtime, budget performance, and operational readiness.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Directors of Facilities Operations, Site Managers, and other regional leaders, fostering accountability, collaboration, succession readiness, and a high-performing culture.
  • Develop and manage regional operating budgets, forecasts, resource plans, and cost-optimization initiatives while maintaining service quality and operational resilience.
  • Oversee regional vendor relationships and service contracts to ensure performance, safety, commercial, and compliance expectations are met.
  • Serve as the senior operational escalation leader for the region; direct site response to critical events, approve operational priorities, and ensure timely stabilization and recovery.
  • Ensure significant incidents receive appropriate investigation and corrective action, partnering with Director of Operational Excellence on root cause methodology, systemic lessons learned, and enterprise CAPA governance.
  • Ensure consistent implementation and compliance with the company's OMS, including corporate policies, procedures, EHS programs, training and qualification requirements, and governance standards.
  • Champion adoption of new standards, technologies, and best practices and ensure approved changes are effectively implemented and sustained across regional operations.
  • Ensure sites maintain workforce competency, staffing coverage, emergency preparedness, and compliance with customer training, security, contractual, and site-access requirements.
  • Monitor operational KPIs, self-assessments, audits, and customer performance commitments; assign resources and corrective actions necessary to close site and regional performance gaps.
  • Partner with the Director of Customer Excellence and Technical Account Managers to address customer priorities, operational concerns, service commitments, escalations, and account improvement plans.
  • Participate in customer governance meetings and executive business reviews as the accountable regional operations leader, providing operational decisions, performance context, recovery plans, and resource commitments.
  • Partner with the Director of Operational Excellence to identify improvement opportunities, implement enterprise programs, address assurance findings, and sustain measurable performance gains.
  • Support long-term regional growth strategies, new-site mobilizations, capital planning, infrastructure expansion, due diligence, and integration activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Operations Management, Business, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • Fifteen or more years of progressively responsible experience in data center or mission-critical facilities operations, including at least eight years leading multi-site or regional operations.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mission-critical electrical, mechanical, controls, fire protection, life-safety, and building-management systems.
  • Demonstrated success managing operational budgets, forecasts, cost controls, vendor performance, staffing plans, and capital planning support.
  • Proven executive leadership, decision-making, crisis-management, communication, coaching, and conflict-resolution capability.
  • Experience supporting hyperscale or other sophisticated mission-critical customers and managing performance under contractual SLAs.
  • Experience with CMMS platforms, operational KPIs, incident management, root cause analysis, maintenance governance, and data-driven performance improvement.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-availability environment and travel to various locations up to approximately 50-60% based on business need.
  • May be required to work nights or weekends and remain on call as part of operational leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong ability to analyze complex operational information and respond effectively during high-pressure critical events.
