About SOLFL

SOLFL is a new movement in conscious education dedicated to cultivating intellectual, emotional, and spiritual intelligence. Our first school, SOLFL עץ חיים, a K-12 Miami Torah Earth School, offers a rigorous, mutli-disiplinary curriculum that integrates hands-on, experiential learning with entrepreneurship, ecology, creative expressions and spiritual practice. Our goal is to move children away from traditional classrooms, desks and screens, into the real world. This is an irl (in real life) school aimed at cultivating the impact entrepreneurs of the future.

About the Role

The Head of Mathematics, Physics, and Engineering leads high school teaching and department development across mathematics, physics, and applied engineering-related learning. This person must be able to teach high school mathematics across Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus and Statistics.

This role is both instructional and strategic. This person will teach high school Math and, when needed, Physics, while also helping shape the school’s Math curriculum and supporting integrated learning experiences connected to real-world student ventures.

A key part of this role is supporting the Design Studio, a school arena where students develop products, prototypes, and solutions connected to their in-real-life ventures. Because of this, a strong background in Math, Physics, and engineering thinking is important. This person should be able to help bridge academic content with design, technical thinking, problem-solving, and product development.

As Department Head, this person will be responsible for both teaching and administration. They must have strong classroom management, strong project management, a highly systemized approach to their work, and strong academic governance related to their classes and department responsibilities. They should also be willing to support the design of Math curriculum and integrated learning projects in the middle school program.

Comfort with and interest in technology, robotics, and AI is highly desirable.

Core Responsibilities

  • Teach high school Math across Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus and Statistics

  • Deliver strong, rigorous instruction while helping students see Math as practical, useful, and connected to real-world work

  • Help students apply mathematical thinking to problem-solving, modeling, design, analysis, and decision-making

  • Build student confidence and fluency in core mathematical concepts and skills

  • Help students connect Physics concepts to real systems, design challenges, movement, forces, energy, and product development

  • Bring engineering thinking into instruction where relevant, especially in ways that support real-world application

  • Support the Design Studio as a learning arena for student product development tied to in-real-life ventures

  • Help students apply Math, Physics, and technical reasoning to design, prototyping, testing, and iteration

  • Collaborate with other faculty to ensure student ventures are supported by strong quantitative and technical thinking

  • Contribute practical insight to design-based learning experiences and problem-solving work

  • Lead department responsibilities related to teaching, planning, organization, and academic oversight

  • Maintain strong systems for lesson planning, assessment, grading, documentation, and student progress tracking

  • Ensure strong academic governance across assigned classes and department responsibilities

  • Support consistent standards, strong execution, and clear follow-through across the department

  • Collaborate on the design and creation of High School Math curriculum

  • Support the development of integrated learning projects that connect Math to real-world ventures and interdisciplinary work

  • Work collaboratively to strengthen the role of mathematical and technical thinking across the school

  • Bring interest and practical thinking around technology, robotics, and AI into the broader learning environment where relevant

  • Help students see the relationship between core academic subjects and emerging technologies

  • Contribute ideas and initiatives that strengthen real-world, future-facing Math and technical education at SOLFL

  • Degree in Mathematics or Physics required

  • Engineering experience or background strongly preferred

  • Ability to teach Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus and Statistics

  • Ability to teach Physics preferred

  • Strong classroom teaching experience at the high school level

  • Strong systems, organization, and project management skills

  • Strong academic governance and administrative follow-through related to classes and department leadership

  • Interest in design, product development, applied problem-solving, and interdisciplinary learning

  • Comfort with or strong interest in technology, robotics, and AI is highly desirable

  • Has strong subject knowledge and can teach Math with rigor and clarity

  • Can connect Math and Physics to real-world design, engineering, and problem-solving

  • Is organized, systems-driven, and strong in execution

  • Enjoys both teaching and building programs
