About the Role
~1 min readWe are an established U.S. California-based accounting firm expanding our global operations. We are looking for an exceptional Senior Bookkeeping & Certified Payroll Specialist to join us as our foundational offshore team member. This is a high-visibility, dual-impact position: you will own full-charge bookkeeping and public works payroll compliance for our U.S. clients while actively collaborating with leadership to build the operational framework, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and infrastructure to scale our remote operations.
Responsibilities
~1 min read1. Operational Setup & Process Building (Foundational)
- →Help establish the offshore operational framework and serve as the core link to our onshore California team.
- →Design, refine, and document clear SOPs for full-charge bookkeeping, general ledger account analysis, and certified payroll compliance workflows.
2. Certified Payroll & Public Works Compliance
- →Oversee and audit certified payroll reporting for U.S. construction and public works projects.
- →Ensure strict adherence to California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) rules, California Labor Code, and Federal prevailing wage laws.
- →Manage correct worker classifications, prevailing wage determinations, and fringe benefit calculations.
- →Prepare, review, and submit Certified Payroll Reports (CPRs) using systems like LCPtracker or similar compliance platforms.
- →Interface with project teams, clients, and regulatory bodies for payroll audits and documentation requests.
3. Full-Charge Bookkeeping & Client Accounting
- →Manage full-cycle bookkeeping for multiple SMB and construction clients in QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop.
- →Execute bank reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable (AP/AR), general ledger maintenance, journal entries, and month-end closes.
- →Perform financial record reviews to ensure strict compliance with accounting standards.
Requirements
~1 min read- Experience: 3+ years of progressive experience in full-charge bookkeeping and multi-client accounting.
- Payroll & Compliance experience is non-negotiable: Direct experience with U.S. payroll processing. Proven expertise or strong familiarity with California prevailing wage laws, public works regulations, and Certified Payroll Reports (CPRs)
- Software Mastery: Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) and QuickBooks Desktop. Experience with LCPtracker or standard compliance reporting tools is a plus.
- Time Zone Alignment: Willingness and capability to work full-time during U.S. Pacific Time (PST) business hours.
- Language: Native or near-native English fluency (both written and verbal) with top-tier professional communication skills.
