Our client is a high-performing multifamily investment sales team operating in one of the most active apartment investment markets in the United States. The team evaluates hundreds of multifamily opportunities annually and specializes in helping investors make informed acquisition and disposition decisions through detailed financial analysis and market intelligence.

They are seeking a Multifamily Underwriting & Research Analyst to support deal underwriting, market research, and investment analysis. This role is critical to keeping brokers focused on client relationships while ensuring opportunities are thoroughly analyzed and presented with accuracy and speed.

The Multifamily Underwriting & Research Analyst will be responsible for completing the majority of the underwriting process for multifamily investment opportunities, conducting market research, gathering comparable data, and preparing broker-ready analyses.

This is not a traditional administrative position. The ideal candidate possesses strong financial modeling capabilities, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to leverage AI tools to improve efficiency and accuracy. You will play a direct role in evaluating multifamily investment opportunities and helping drive transaction decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain multifamily underwriting models using seller financials, rent rolls, and offering memorandums
  • Normalize inconsistent property data and input information into standardized financial models
  • Complete approximately 95% of underwriting analyses before broker review
  • Evaluate deal performance metrics and identify key investment risks and opportunities
  • Ensure underwriting outputs are accurate, organized, and presentation-ready
  • Research rental comparables, sales comparables, and submarket performance indicators
  • Gather and organize market intelligence from public and industry sources
  • Analyze development pipelines, supply trends, demographic shifts, and market conditions
  • Present research findings in a clear format suitable for investment evaluations and marketing materials
  • Utilize AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, or similar platforms to accelerate underwriting and research workflows
  • Leverage AI-assisted processes for model population, research automation, and data organization
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve efficiency through technology and automation
  • Manage multiple underwriting assignments simultaneously while meeting tight turnaround expectations
  • Prioritize assignments based on team deal flow and transaction timelines
  • Collaborate with brokers and internal stakeholders to support active opportunities
  • Maintain organized underwriting files, research materials, and supporting documentation
  • Prepare broker-ready summaries and investment analysis reports
  • Assist with data preparation for marketing packages and investment presentations

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of experience in financial analysis, underwriting, investment analysis, private equity, commercial real estate, investment banking, or a related field
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Real Estate, or a related discipline
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience building complex financial models
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and critical-thinking abilities
  • Active working knowledge of AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, or similar platforms
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Direct experience underwriting multifamily real estate investments
  • Experience with commercial real estate financial modeling
  • Background in investment banking, private equity, hedge funds, or institutional investment analysis
  • MBA, Master's degree, or financial engineering background
  • Experience utilizing AI-driven workflows for research and analysis
  • Familiarity with multifamily market research and property valuation methodologies
  • Fully remote position
  • Full-time schedule
  • Monday–Friday during standard PST business hours
  • 2–5 years of experience preferred
