As a member of the Starship Infrastructure and Construction Team, you will work with a group of elite engineers to design, build, and activate infrastructure for a variety of projects at Starbase as well as other SpaceX Facilities. You will have the opportunity to drive positive changes in a fast-paced and low-drag environment. This includes owning tasks/projects from start to finish, with the goal of making the SpaceX campus a world-class facility that can support the mission of enabling life beyond Earth. This position is based in Starbase, South Texas (Brownsville/South Padre Island area).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and issue drawings, design documentation, and reports for aerospace, industrial, and commercial-type land development projects
  • Perform all calculations necessary for grading and drainage, stormwater control facilities, water quality, domestic water distribution, and other underground utilities
  • Collaborate and grow with a multi-discipline infrastructure project team by performing civil-specific engineering, procurement, and construction activities for a variety of critical and fast-paced company projects
  • Drive coordination and design necessary to obtain local, state, and federal permits as it relates to land development and utility construction projects
  • Manage the civil aspects of construction projects in the field, including quality control, conflict resolution, and coordination of a multi-disciplinary contractor team
  • Prepare cost estimates, project schedules, and project cost control reports
  • Interact with contractors, fabricators, owners, and internal clients to develop project requirements, schedule, and cost estimates prior to project implementation
  • Resolve design and construction conflicts in the field in real time

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related engineering discipline 
  • 2+ years of civil technical experience with working knowledge in construction
  • Proficiency in technical skills in pump design, storm water management, hydraulics, hydrological analysis, grading and other site development related designs
  • Understanding of other disciplines such as electrical, piping, geotechnical, electrical and surveying
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional Engineering (PE) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) license
  • Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while maintaining a high sense of urgency in a high-paced, challenging work environment
  • Experience with project management of major construction projects including estimating, cost control, schedule, and contractor management
  • Physical effort with lifting and carrying materials or equipment (up to 25 lbs.)
  • Typically exposed to work in extreme outdoor environments – heat, cold, rain
  • Must be available to work extended hours and weekends when needed, based on site operational needs; flexibility required
  • Ability to remain focused while working in hazardous environments, while wearing appropriate PPE
  • Valid driver’s license
