Reporting to the VP of Financial Planning & Analysis and Chief of Staff to the CFO, the Senior Finance Engineer will play a critical role in designing and scaling the technical infrastructure that powers our finance organization. This is a highly strategic, hands-on role bridging software engineering and financial strategy. You will architect resilient, AI-powered systems to modernize finance operations, improve forecasting accuracy, accelerate close cycles, and reduce manual work through scalable systems and intelligent automation. This is a full-time hybrid role based out of our NYC office, with the expectation of 3 days in office.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- Own the design, testing, and iteration of automation systems across forecasting, reporting, reconciliations, revenue recognition, accruals, and scenario modeling
- Automate month-end close workflows to reduce cycle time while strengthening controls and audit readiness
- Discover new ways to access, connect, and “weaponize” new data sets – both internal and external – to develop intelligent dashboards and reporting systems providing real-time visibility into financial performance.
- Accelerate finance team efficiency through AI & automation to expedite repeatable workstreams – journal entries, spreadsheet dependency, reporting tasks – and maximize the team’s time on highest value activities
- Collaborate with FP&A, Accounting, Strategic Finance, Data, and IT to translate finance priorities into scalable technical solutions
- Serve as a subject matter expert in Finance engineering best practices, educating Finance teams on automation and data-driven execution.
- Ensure solutions align with internal controls, compliance requirements, and long-term IPO readiness.
- Oversee continuous feature enablement, adoption, and optimization across the tech stack (e.g. NetSuite, Pigment, Airbase)
- Proactively monitor the AI tech landscape to evaluate new vendors and identify opportunities to maximize the efficiency
- Strengthen data governance, system reliability, and financial data accuracy.
- Reduce Month End Close Time by at least 30 percent
- Finance Productivity: Reduce manual finance workload by 30 to 40 percent through automation.
- Improve Forecast Accuracy: Across revenue and operating expenses by at least 20 percent
- Deliver Scalable Systems: That support audit readiness and long-term public company requirements
- 4+ years of demonstrable experience designing and deploying automation, AI, and/or ML systems in a Finance context
- 4+ years of experience in FP&A, Strategic Finance, Accounting or Finance Transformation
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial modeling, internal controls, and reporting processes
- Experience integrating ERP systems, planning tools, data warehouses, and automation platforms
- Familiarity with modern AI/agent frameworks (e.g., Claud, ChatGPT, Gemini).
- Proven track record of leading cross-functional initiatives, driving adoption of new systems and workflows, and using metrics/outcomes to optimize.
- Strong project management skills, able to translate strategic Finance objectives into technical execution.
- A software engineering mindset: rigorous about testing, observability, data hygiene, and iteration cycles.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with multiple competing priorities.
The target base salary range for this position is $159,100 - $179,000 and is part of a competitive total rewards package including equity and benefits. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. We review all employee pay and compensation programs annually using Radford Global Compensation Database at minimum to ensure competitive and fair pay.
