Position Summary:
We are seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and energetic Youth Summer Camp Mentors to support the delivery of our summer camp programs for children ages 11-18. Mentors will play a key role in creating a fun, inclusive, and safe camp experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and actively engage children in daily camp activities
- Plan and lead recreational, educational, and creative programming
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants at all times
- Foster positive behavior and act as a role model
- Assist with daily routines, transitions, meals, and outdoor activities
- Communicate effectively with staff, participants, and families
- Follow all organizational policies, procedures, and safety protocols
Qualifications:
- Educational background applicable to the position
- Experience working with children ages 6–12
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience in camp, recreation, or childcare settings (preferred)
- Must meet all Canada Summer Jobs requirements, including:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
- Be legally entitled to work according to provincial/territorial legislation
- International students are not eligible; recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian citizens or permanent residents
- Strong program planning and organizational skills
- Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills
- Good decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (mandatory)
- Police Reference Check completed within the last 6 months (mandatory prior to start date)
- HIGH FIVE: Principles of Healthy Child Development training (asset/required)
