The position reports to the Senior Capacity Planner.
The position is responsible for providing technical data analysis and solution design support in the conceptualisation and implementation of projects to improve the quality of Takealot’s product catalogue information.
Requirements
~1 min read- Analyse project scope and core objectives; lead requirements-elicitation workshops with stakeholders to define, document, and prioritise business and functional requirements.
- Critically evaluate information from multiple sources — reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level goals into constituent details, and distinguish user requests from true business needs.
- Collaborate with the technical lead and subject-matter experts to establish technical vision and analyse trade-offs between usability and performance.
- Produce and obtain sign-off on key artefacts: Business/Functional Requirement Specifications (BRS/FRS), wireframes, process/workflow diagrams, data models, and acceptance criteria.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Business Analysis, Product Management, Data Analysis, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience defining and documenting solutions for customer-facing systems, websites, or digital platforms.
- Hands-on experience working within Agile/Scrum environments, including participation in key ceremonies (grooming, planning, reviews, retrospectives).
- Experience in an e-commerce, online retail, or digital marketplace environment is advantageous.
- Practical experience with BI and data analytics tools (Looker, Looker Studio, Power BI, or similar).
- Strong experience using SQL, preferably with BigQuery or another cloud-based data warehouse.
- Exposure to GCP tools such as BigQuery, LookML/Looker, Dataforms, or similar cloud data services.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including Engineering, UX/UI, QA, Product, and Data/BI teams.
- Serve as the key liaison between business stakeholders, BI, data engineering, and the engineering team.
- Proactively communicate information needs and functional requirements across the project team; facilitate clarification sessions to ensure development and QA teams fully understand requirements.
- Project-manage selected BI, analytics, and systems initiatives from planning through to delivery.
- Review test plans and scripts for accuracy, coverage, and alignment with requirements; perform UAT and support business testers during UAT cycles.
- Conduct data analysis and validation using BigQuery SQL to support requirements, design decisions, and solution verification.
- Develop LookML models and contribute to the semantic data layer in Looker, ensuring governance and consistent metric definitions.
- Build and maintain dashboards, visualisations, and analytical reports in Looker BI and Looker Studio.
- Work with GCP tools (e.g. Google Dataforms) to support data collection, workflow automation, and analytics processes.
- Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities across BI processes, data quality, data governance, and reporting efficiency.
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills — able to interpret complex data, identify patterns, decompose ambiguous problems, and translate insights into actionable requirements and decisions.
- Solid understanding of data modelling, data validation, and data governance principles to ensure consistent, high-quality reporting.
- Proficiency with SQL, BigQuery, Looker, LookML, Looker Studio, and/or similar analytics platforms.
- Competence in producing clear, accurate documentation: BRS, FRS, acceptance criteria, process flows, data models, and reporting specifications.
- Root-cause analysis and proactive risk identification — ability to spot inefficiencies and improvement opportunities early.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills — able to present complex information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong stakeholder management, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and manage expectations across business, product, engineering, and data teams.
- User-centric mindset, considering customer journeys and user experience when designing solutions.
- Ability to build trusted, collaborative relationships across cross-functional teams, acting as a reliable partner and advisor.
- Working knowledge of Agile methodologies, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Strong ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.
- Solutions-oriented, proactive mindset with high ownership, energy, and a can-do attitude.
- Versatile, adaptable, and eager to learn — able to quickly pick up new tools, technologies, and business concepts.
