About the Role
~1 min readTechno is seeking a Structural Inspector with strong concrete inspection experience to support a major water/wastewater infrastructure improvement project in the New York City area. This role involves inspection and oversight of ongoing heavy civil and structural construction activities associated with large-scale municipal infrastructure upgrades.
The ideal candidate will have experience inspecting reinforced concrete work, structural elements, and construction activities in active infrastructure environments. Candidates with public agency and water/wastewater project experience are highly preferred.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Perform daily inspection of structural and concrete construction activities to verify compliance with project plans, specifications, and applicable codes
- →Inspect reinforced concrete placement, formwork, rebar installation, foundations, structural repairs, and related heavy civil work
- →Monitor contractor workmanship, construction sequencing, and material compliance throughout all phases of work
- →Review and document field activities, testing results, quantities, and project progress through daily reports and inspection logs
- →Coordinate with resident engineers, contractors, project managers, and agency representatives regarding field conditions and construction issues
- →Witness field testing activities including concrete sampling, slump tests, cylinder testing, and related quality control procedures
- →Identify non-conforming work and assist with tracking corrective actions and resolutions
- →Participate in project meetings, safety coordination efforts, and construction progress discussions as needed
Requirements
~2 min read- 5+ years of construction inspection experience on heavy civil or structural infrastructure projects
- Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete inspection practices and structural construction methods
- Experience with water/wastewater treatment facilities, underground utilities, or municipal infrastructure projects preferred
- Familiarity with NYC construction standards, inspection procedures, and documentation requirements
- Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, specifications, and engineering documents
- NICET certification, ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician certification, or related certifications are a plus
- Experience supporting projects for NYC public agencies, including NYCDEP, is highly beneficial
- Strong communication, organizational, and reporting skills

The expected salary range for this role in the New York City Metropolitan Area is $55 - $72 per hour. The total compensation, including salary and bonuses, is determined by various factors such as experience, skill level, location, and qualifications, which are evaluated during the interview process
