We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Summer Student to support our Maintenance team. This position offers hands-on experience in industrial maintenance, asset management, and reliability practices within a dynamic work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Review OEM manuals to identify and document preventive maintenance (PM) intervals for critical crane components, including booms, main hoists, gantries, and trolleys across six cranes. 
  • Develop comprehensive job plans (work instructions) for each maintenance interval (e.g., 300-hour, 500-hour, 1,000-hour, 1,500-hour), ensuring alignment with OEM recommendations and best practices. 
  • Create clear and accurate diagrams for each crane, including the identification and labeling of all sheaves. 
  • Analyze OEM manuals to determine PM intervals for additional equipment, including reach stackers, internal transfer vehicles (ITVs), and forklifts. 
  • Shadow Maintenance Managers and team members to gain practical exposure to equipment, maintenance processes, and daily operations. 
  • Support reliability initiatives by participating in discussions and activities related to thermography, vibration analysis, and oil sampling. 
  • Prepare and deliver a final presentation summarizing key learnings, project outcomes, and contributions at the end of the work term. 

 

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering/Technology program (or a related field). 
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals and documentation. 
  • Effective communication and presentation skills. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with CMMS is considered an asset. 
  • Flexibility to meet the requirements of a 24/7 operation, including shift work.

  • Fluent in English.

  • Previous Canadian work experience or experience working directly with Canadian industries.
