About the Role
~1 min readAs Operations Superintendent, you will take ownership of day-to-day terminal operations including vessel, yard and landside activities. You will provide visible leadership across the terminal, ensuring operational plans are executed safely, efficiently and in line with customer and business expectations.
Working in partnership with planning, maintenance, safety and customer-facing teams, you will be accountable for operational outcomes including productivity, safety performance, labour utilisation and service delivery.
You will also play a key role in coaching and developing your supervisory team, driving accountability and fostering a high-performance culture across the operation.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Lead and coordinate terminal operations across a 24/7 container terminal environment
- →Provide leadership, direction and support to a team of Operations Supervisors operating across rotating shifts
- →Drive operational performance outcomes including productivity, safety, cost efficiency and customer service
- →Make critical operational decisions in a dynamic, high-pressure environment
- →Ensure safe execution of all operational activities and compliance with WHS&E requirements
- →Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, customers and workforce representatives
- →Lead workforce performance, capability development and operational accountability
- →Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimise terminal performance
- →Support operational planning and resource deployment to meet changing operational demands
- →Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, accountability and operational excellence
You are an experienced operational leader who thrives in fast-moving, complex industrial environments. You bring strong leadership capability, sound operational judgement and the ability to influence outcomes through people.
You will ideally have experience within container terminal operations, ports, logistics, transport, mining, manufacturing or other large-scale industrial operations.
You will also bring:
- Significant leadership experience within a 24/7 operational environment
- Experience leading leaders and managing shift-based operational teams
- Strong understanding of industrial relations within unionised workplaces
- Proven ability to manage operational risk, competing priorities and time-critical activities
- Experience driving operational performance and continuous improvement initiatives
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Resilience, decisiveness and the ability to lead under pressure
- Strong commitment to safety leadership and operational discipline
This role operates on roster across 7 days of 4 x 12-hour day shifts on / 4 days off.
The role is shared with another Operations Superintendent, with both positions working collaboratively to ensure consistent leadership coverage across terminal operations, including weekends and public holidays.
