Orchid Development provides property management, administration and accounting services to the commercial buildings comprising Cricket Square, as well as to commercial, hospitality and residential businesses owned by the Group outside of Cricket Square.
The Senior Accountant plays an important and integral role within the Finance team, given the multiple business entities the team supports and the highly transactional nature of operations. Reporting to the Financial Controller, post holder is responsible for the financial reporting and oversight of operational entities within the Group. This role ensures financial results accurately reflect operational performance and provides insight to support decision-making.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare monthly financial statements including profit and loss and supporting schedules
- Perform variance analysis against budget and prior periods with clear explanations
- Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly
- Maintain fixed asset schedules including additions and depreciation
- Review accounts payable coding for accuracy and consistency
- Prepare assigned bank reconciliations for review
- Monitor operational cash activity and financial performance
- Support operational managers with financial insight and analysis
- Processing of payroll
- Assist with month-end close and reporting deadlines
- Support audit preparation and schedules
- Provide guidance to Accounts Officer on transactional processing
- Support Sage Intacct implementation and process improvements
Education/Experience
- 8–10 years accounting experience, preferably in hospitality, property management
or multi-entity environments
- Strong financial reporting and reconciliation experience
- Experience with ERP systems (Sage Intacct preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills, with proficiency in speaking and writing
- Strong computer skills, must be proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- The ability to act responsibly and ethically when working with sensitive financial information
