STUDENT INTERNSHIP DETAILS

At The Wellness Centre we are committed to providing young Caymanians with a valuable student internship experience. Each internship will be developed in collaboration with students to ensure the unique experiences match both educational and career interests.  

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

1. Be a Caymanian student enrolled in a Bachelor's and Master's degree programme from an accredited university in a relevant discipline, including but not limited to psychology, mental health counseling, social work, or related fields. 
2. Clean police clearance
3. Child Safeguarding (Darkness2Light) - will be provided
4. HIPAA Certification - will be provided
5. Excellent knowledge of Google Workspace, Canva, and Zoom  

PRIMARY DUTIES: 

Reporting directly to the Clinical Manager the Intern may assist and support the Clinical Team in any of the following ways

1. Clinical Administration Tasks
   1. Sort, scan and shred clinical documents
   2. Assist the receptionist or administrative team with general duties, including front desk coverage
   3. Interact with our Electronic Health Record System (DrC) to support with client scheduling, and maintenance of current client lists for members of the clinical and developmental support services team
2. Mental Health Promotional Tasks
   1. Design and develop psychoeducational presentations using Canva on a range of topics relevant to the services and programmes of the company.
   2. Design and develop social media campaigns, including vision, posts, reels, scripts. Topics and schedule to be determined by the Director.
   3. Plan, support and assist with mental health promotional opportunities in the community, including but not limited to Career Fairs, Health Fairs and Employee Wellness Fairs
3. Psychological Support Services
   1. Engage in learning opportunities related to the utilization of mental health modalities and psychological assessment measures
   2. Observe the administration and scoring of psychological measures
   3. Participate in psychological assessment meetings and case discussions
   4. Support ongoing inventory management for psychometric testing
4. Clinical Counselling Support Services
   1. Support clinical intake administration
   2. Engage in clinical team meetings
   3. Observe clinical intake interviews
   4. Observe clinical groups
5. Research and Literature Review
   1. Support research projects, including literature review, research design, development of data collection measures, and analysis.  

The intern will maintain client confidentiality and adhere to all policies of The Wellness Centre.
