The Director, L&D leads the strategy, design, and execution of technical learning programs across TPI’s operations. This role oversees the TPI Academy engineering curriculum, technical skills training for engineering/quality/production teams, and frontline leadership development for production supervisors and team leaders.
This role partners closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, HR/OD, and regional training teams to deliver high quality, multi modal learning experiences that build technical capability, strengthen production leadership, and support TPI’s global growth.
The Director ensures that all technical and leadership programs are aligned with business strategy, grounded in adult learning principles, evaluated for impact, and scalable across TPI manufacturing plants.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Lead the global execution of the TPI Academy Engineering curriculum, including roadmap development, resource planning, instructor coaching and coordination, and participation.
- Oversee delivery of classroom, virtual, and hands on lab training in composite blade manufacturing technologies.
- Ensure quality, consistency, and effectiveness of all training content and delivery.
- Maintain and curate technical training content, ensuring sustainability, version control, and alignment with evolving business needs.
- Develop annual training plans for engineers, technicians, and production leaders aligned with the TPI Academy roadmap.
- Partner with regional technical training teams to drive global standardization of DL production training and technical certification programs.
- Design, implement, and sustain frontline leadership development programs for production supervisors, leads, and frontline managers.
- Build practical, skills-based learning focused on safety leadership, communication, coaching, problem solving, and daily management routines.
- Partner with Operations and HR/OD to ensure leadership programs support plant performance, culture, and talent pipelines.
- Integrate leadership development with training to strengthen overall production capability.
- Collaborate with site leaders (VPs, GMs, Plant Managers), Engineering, Quality, and HR Business Partners to align learning programs with business priorities.
- Engage with quality and engineering leaders to ensure alignment on repair training, quality inspector training, and other technical skill pathways.
- Influence and lead cross functional teams in a matrixed, global environment.
Learning Design, Innovation & Multi Modal Delivery
- Apply adult learning and instructional design best practices to create engaging, effective learning experiences.
- Expand multi modal learning capabilities, including virtual learning, eLearning, blended learning, and on the job performance support tools.
- Introduce innovative approaches to technical and leadership training that meet the needs of a diverse, global workforce.
Evaluation, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Conduct ongoing evaluation of learning programs using Kirkpatrick Levels 1–4.
- Prepare data driven insights and reports for senior leadership.
- Partner with HRIS/LMS teams to ensure accurate course setup, tracking, and completion.
- Collaborate with IT/PowerBI teams to develop dashboards for all training.
Drive continuous improvement by simplifying, standardizing, and optimizing learning processes and reporting.
Minimum Education and Experience
• Minimum BA/BS in Engineering, Education, Learning & Development, Organizational Development, or related field
.
• 5+ years of experience in corporate learning, technical training, or engineering related training environments.
• Experience designing and delivering training in a global, matrixed organization.
Required Skills and Capabilities
• In-depth knowledge of instructional design, curriculum development, and adult learning.
• Demonstrated project management capability.
• Experience delivering technical training in manufacturing or engineering environments.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and geographies.
• Strong communication skills, including persuasive communication and influence.
• Ability to integrate formal learning solutions into highly complex, technical environments.
• Independent thinking and problem-solver; comfortable working in dynamic, changing environments with shifting priorities.
• Experience working with LMS platforms and learning data/reporting tools.
Highly organized, detail oriented, and results driven.
Solution oriented, proactive approach and attitude in resolving issues without compromising delivery commitments.
