What We Offer
~5 min readTrans Lifeline connects trans people to the community, resources, and support they need to survive and thrive--building a resilient trans community through trans-led direct services. Trans Lifeline’s Hotline provides peer support and crisis support. Our Microgrants program provides low-barrier grants to trans people in need through partnerships with local trans-led organizations throughout the US. By providing care and financial redistribution, Trans Lifeline identifies the trans community’s most pressing needs and brings that expertise to broader gender and racial justice movements.
We want people who are as passionate about not just meeting the needs of trans people, but about ensuring that trans people have everything they need to live full and incredible lives. We want to collaborate with people who take their offerings seriously, and who practice self-accountability in relation to their colleagues. We also want your application process to feel thoughtful, accessible, and equitable. Therefore, our processes tend to take a little longer than most, but we’ll do our best to keep things going. If you have any questions at any time please feel free to reach out to people@translifeline.org, and again we’re so happy you’re here!
The Communications Coordinator is a detail-oriented, community-centered member of the Advancement team who helps ensure Trans Lifeline's communications are timely, consistent, and grounded in our mission and values. Working closely with department leadership, this role supports day-to-day communications operations, creates and schedules digital content, stewards relationships across our online platforms, and provides essential administrative support that keeps our communications work running smoothly. We are looking for someone to provide detail-oriented behind-the-scenes technical and administrative support for our overall communications strategy, rather than being "the face" of our social media and communications work.
The ideal candidate is proactive, curious, creative, and comfortable balancing recurring tasks with responsive communications. They have a strong understanding of social media trends and the broader social and political landscape affecting transgender communities, while recognizing that authentic community engagement extends beyond online platforms. They are skilled at creating relationships and partnerships, communicating with care, and remaining grounded and boundaried in emotionally demanding environments through effective self-regulation and interpersonal awareness.
