Position Summary
The Finance Lead is a strategic finance partner for the Mexico Business Unit, responsible for guiding financial planning, performance management, and decision support. This role combines strong accounting foundations, advanced financial analysis, and tax/fiscal knowledge to provide clear, actionable insights that enable the Vice President and leadership team in Canada to manage the business more effectively and drive sustainable growth.
The Finance Lead is expected to move beyond reporting, acting as a trusted advisor who translates financial data into business strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership & Business Partnering
- Serve as the primary finance partner to the VP of the Business Unit, supporting strategic and operational decision- making.
- Provide forward-looking financial insights, scenario analysis, and recommendations to improve profitability, efficiency, and growth.
- Participate in business reviews, planning sessions, and leadership discussions as the finance subject matter expert.
- Proactively identify financial risks and opportunities and propose mitigation or optimization strategies.
- Lead the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).
- Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans aligned with business objectives.
- Analyze variances versus budget and forecast, clearly explaining key performance drivers to leadership.
- Design and track KPIs and dashboards to monitor business performance.
- Ensure financial analyses are consistent with accounting records and applicable accounting standards.
- Partner with accounting teams to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial information.
- Support month-end and year-end close activities from a leadership and analytical perspective.
- Apply tax and fiscal knowledge to support financial planning, pricing, investments, and structural decisions.
- Evaluate the financial impact of tax-related matters affecting the Business Unit.
- Coordinate with internal or external tax experts as needed to support compliance and optimization.
- Lead improvements to financial processes, reporting tools, and analysis frameworks.
- Promote financial discipline, transparency, and best practices across the Business Unit.
- Support internal controls and compliance with company financial policies.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience in finance, financial analysis, accounting, or similar roles.
- Proven experience supporting senior leaders or executives with financial insights and recommendations.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statements.
- Advanced financial analysis and modeling capabilities.
- Strong Excel skills (financial models, dashboards, advanced formulas).
- Solid foundational knowledge of tax and fiscal regulations impacting business operations.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English, or Advanced professional English proficiency (written and spoken), capable of presenting and discussing financial insights with senior leadership.
