- Able to follow oral and written instructions and communicate with others effectively.
- Strong computer/basic keyboard skills, telephone skills, and general knowledge of office machines including printers.
- Excellent customer relations skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of experience interpreting and translating, preferably in a medical setting, including one year medical, Medicaid, and clerical experience
- Experience in healthcare insurance and billing.
- Knowledge in advanced medical terminology and medical coding.
- Oral and written fluency in English and Spanish.
- Specializes in assisting our Spanish speaking patients.
- Analyze patient’s responsibility by understanding verification of assets, family size, citizenship status and FPL.
- Keys Medicaid cases into DHS eligibility system.
- Retrieves eligibility information from different data bases.
- Submits weekly spreadsheets of cases in need of additional review.
- Knowledge of complete Medicaid interview process.
- Performs other duties as assigned with a positive team attitude.
- Develops and maintains knowledge-base of Medicaid policies and procedures, maintains current knowledge of all federal and state regulatory mandates and requirements including but not limited to Medicare, EMTALA, and JCAHO; successfully completes annual competency test and any additional competency testing and training required to validate required skills.
- Determines eligibility for Spanish and English speaking patients for Medicaid, EMA and financial assistance programs available.
- This position provides assistance in obtaining coverage for patients who are underinsured and uninsured.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
