 Under the PROSPECTS partnership, UNICEF and partner agencies are working to strengthen the inclusion, participation and development opportunities of forcibly displaced and vulnerable adolescents and young people. Building on this broader work, the consultancy will support the design and implementation of an inter-agency Youth Network Group, with a primary focus on PROSPECTS countries and the Middle East and North Africa region, while also facilitating relevant engagement and exchange with Eastern and Southern Africa. The Group will provide a structured platform for adolescents and young people, particularly those affected by displacement, exclusion and other forms of vulnerability, to contribute to programmes, advocacy and decision-making at country and regional levels. The assignment will place particular emphasis on meaningful youth engagement in MENA, while drawing on relevant youth engagement work already undertaken and creating opportunities for collaboration, peer exchange and learning across the two regions. Working closely with UNICEF PROSPECTS country offices, with a focus on the MENA and expansion to the Eastern and Southern Africa region, UNHCR, ILO, other partners and young people, the consultant will undertake the following:

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's in Communication, Public Relations, Advocacy, Development Studies, Human Rights, Child Rights, and other related fields
  • Work Experience: 3 to 5 years relevant professional work experience related to international development, advocacy, knowledge management, youth engagement or related programme support.
  • Skills :
  • Demonstrated experience managing consultancy assignments independently, including coordinating stakeholders, developing content, documenting activities and delivering agreed outputs.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging adolescents and young people through consultations, workshops, participatory processes or youth Network groups.
  • Experience developing communication and advocacy materials, such as briefing notes, key messages, presentations, reports, knowledge products and digital content.
  • Good understanding of UNICEF’s mandate and relevant guidance on advocacy, communication, youth engagement, safeguarding and ethical participation.
  • Experience working with UNICEF, another United Nations agency or an international development organization, particularly in the MENA region, is highly desirable.
  • Good understanding of the MENA context and the issues affecting adolescents and young people, particularly in PROSPECTS countries.
  • Language Requirements: English, Arabic, French
  • Desirable: Knowledge of another UN language is an asset
