Within the ECAMENA Advocacy & Communication function, digital communications and public engagement constitute a distinct priority area of work. In line with the ECAMENA operating model, this includes managing the unified regional digital ecosystem, strengthening audience-centred digital engagement, supporting coherent regional public positioning, and enabling more strategic and data-driven digital communications across the region. The function is delivered alongside the wider section priorities of advocacy and policy influence, media engagement and crisis communications, and Country Office support and capacity building. Within this architecture, the Digital Communication Specialist (Digital Media) operationally leads the digital media stream under the strategic oversight of the Regional Chief of Advocacy & Communication. The post is responsible for the day-to-day management, coordination, quality assurance, and continuous strengthening of regional digital platforms, regional-language channels, digital storytelling, analytics, and digital support to Country Offices.
Under the supervision of the Regional Chief of Advocacy & Communication (P-5), the Digital Communication Specialist - Digital Media (P-3) provides technical leadership and operational management of the ECAMENA regional digital ecosystem and digital media stream. The post is responsible for leading the implementation of regional digital strategy across regional-language digital channels and platforms, including the unified regional website, digital channel architecture, editorial planning, digital content coordination, platform performance, and digital public engagement. The post supports the implementation and continuous refinement of the regional one-language-one-channel model, leads data-driven digital storytelling and analytics for decision-making, coordinates digital content innovation and cross-audience campaigns, and contributes to digital visibility and selected fundraising-facing priorities in close coordination with relevant colleagues. The post also provides digital quality assurance, technical support, benchmarking, and capacity building to Country Offices, while supervising the Senior Communication Associate - Video & Web Editing (G-7), the Communication Officer - Social Media RU (NO-1), and the Communication Officer - Social Media AR + EN (NO-1), and ensuring coherent delivery across the digital media stream under the strategic direction of the Regional Chief of Advocacy & Communication.

Digital Communication Specialist
Minimum requirements:
- Education: Master or equivalent (Advanced University Degree) in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Digital Media, or another relevant field is required.
A Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in a relevant area combined with 2 additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree. This is applicable to internal (FT, Continuing and Permanent) staff only. - Work Experience: 5 years of progressively responsible and relevant professional work experience in digital communication, digital content strategy, social media management, web and platform management, analytics, or related new-media fields is required.
- Skills: Developing and executing digital and social media strategies. Digital content planning, editorial workflows, and content production coordination. Platform performance analysis, audience insights, and data-driven optimization. Community engagement, moderation, and reputational risk awareness. Digital campaign design and implementation. Digital support, quality assurance, or capacity building for multiple teams or offices. Project management and coordination of multiple digital workflows. Supervision or functional direction of staff involved in digital delivery.
- Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required.
Desirables:
- Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
- Experience with digital analytics, social listening, benchmarking, platform governance, multilingual or multi-audience digital ecosystems, and digital innovation is highly desirable.
- Experience working with creative agencies, digital influencers, LTAs, vendors, or external digital-production partners is desirable.
- Experience supporting humanitarian or emergency digital communications is an asset.
- Experience working in a regional, multi-country, or international setting is highly desirable.
- Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
