The Accountant will play an important role in supporting the financial operations of Unison Health by maintaining accurate accounting records, completing account reconciliations, analyzing financial information, and assisting with the preparation of financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). This position will support monthly accounting activities, financial and productivity reporting, annual audit preparation, fixed asset accounting, and employee benefit plan accounting. The Accountant will also assist with reporting requirements for Mental Health Boards and other funding or oversight entities while helping maintain effective internal accounting controls, policies, and procedures. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer.

Responsibilities

    Complete general accounting activities, account reconciliations, accruals, and variance analysis

  • →

    Prepare and record check, credit card, and other cash deposits and assist with reconciliation to EHR postings as needed

  • →

    Prepare monthly invoices, financial reports, and general ledger reports

  • →

    Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts and maintain supporting documentation

  • →

    Maintain accounting records related to employee benefit plans

  • →

    Maintain fixed asset and work-in-process schedules and record monthly depreciation

  • →

    Prepare financial information and required reports for Mental Health Boards and other stakeholders

  • →

    Support annual financial audits by preparing workpapers, reconciliations, and requested documentation

  • →

    Coordinate with auditors and respond to financial information requests

  • →

    Serve as backup support for payroll and accounts payable activities

  • →

    Maintain productivity reporting within SmartCare and prepare quarterly dashboards for leadership

  • →

    Analyze and integrate information from multiple data sources using spreadsheet and database tools

  • →

    Identify discrepancies, analyze financial data, and support operational and financial decision-making

  • →

    Maintain compliance with internal accounting controls, policies, and procedures

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.

  • At least one year of accounting experience in a nonprofit or not-for-profit setting preferred.

  • Working knowledge of general accounting principles, account reconciliation, and financial reporting.

  • Strong spreadsheet and data-analysis skills with the ability to work with information from multiple systems and sources.

  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational, analytical, and time-management skills.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive financial and organizational information.

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and contribute effectively as part of a team.

  • Experience with accounting, payroll, accounts payable, or electronic health record systems is preferred.

  • Must obtain CPI certification following hire.
