Under the direct supervision of the GBV Programme Specialist, UNFPA Lebanon office, the intern will support the branch team in the areas of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) by programme planning, coordination, monitoring, documentation, research, and event organization. The role includes assisting with workplans, progress tracking, reporting, knowledge management, and resource mobilization efforts.

A work-plan with achievements for the duration of the Internship and learning opportunities will be agreed upon. Periodic progress meetings will lead to a beneficial environment for the Intern enhancing her/his skills and capacity in areas related to UNFPA’s mandate.

UNFPA is the lead United Nations agency for delivering a world where every pregnancy is intended, every childbirth is safe, and every young person's potential is fulfilled. The UNFPA Strategic Plan for 2026-2029 articulates the organization’s response to a complex global environment, providing a roadmap for resilience and renewal. It is designed to accelerate the implementation of the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. This mandate is pursued through a focus on four interconnected outcomes: ending the unmet need for family planning; ending preventable maternal deaths; ending gender-based violence and harmful practices; and adapting to demographic change through evidence and rights-based policies.

  1. Support programme monitoring, reporting, and evaluation by:
  • Supporting the preparation, review, and follow-up of annual workplans and activity plans with implementing partners.
  • Assisting in tracking programme implementation by compiling updates on progress, challenges, and planned activities.
  • Supporting coordination through scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, taking minutes, and following up on action points.
  • Supporting the preparation of programme documents, briefing notes, and other materials related to Gender and GBV interventions.
  • Assisting in tracking programme implementation against workplans, indicators and expected outputs.
  • Assisting in maintaining programme monitoring tools, databases, and tracking sheets.
  • Providing logistical and administrative support in organizing training, workshops, consultations, and other events.
  • Supporting knowledge management by maintaining organized electronic programme files, documenting lessons learned, and contributing to the development of programme products.
  • Conducting desk reviews and background research on gender equality, GBV prevention and response, and humanitarian protection issues.
  • Assisting in documenting lessons learned, success stories, and good practices from programme implementation.
  • Assisting in the preparation of project summaries, briefing notes, and advocacy materials.
  • Supporting in the preparation of donor reports, concept notes, presentations and advocacy products as requested.

However, they receive a stipend to help cover basic daily expenses related to the internship, if not financially supported by any institution or programme, such as a university, government, foundation, or scholarship programme. The stipend is based on the intern’s agreed place of work, which may be different from the duty station of the hiring office in cases of remote arrangements.

In addition, applicants must have medical insurance for the duration of the internship. Proof of insurance will need to be submitted before the internship begins. UNFPA does not provide medical insurance for interns.
