The Human Resource Division is responsible for the timely, accurate, equitable, effective and efficient delivery of all human resources management services, for the continuous development and improvement in human resource operations, policies, and methods to align with UN Women evolving business needs and for providing advisory support to the Executive Director in the formulation and implementation of UN Women's overall mission, strategy and plans of action. 

Under the guidance of the HR Director, the Advisor will work towards achieving a work environment that is free of racial and all other prejudices. The Advisor will support the development, implementation and monitoring of diversity and inclusion programmes within UN Women; Build partnerships within and outside UN Women; and manage and disseminate knowledge in the area of diversity and inclusion. 

  • Support the development, implementation and monitoring of diversity and inclusion programmes in UN Women, in collaboration with key stakeholders & representative bodies.
  • Support implementation of Executive Board recommendations & decisions on organizational culture and anti-racism.  
  • Develop diversity analytics, including benchmarking, tracking metrics, analyzing and generating diversity reporting for various audience to highlight trends and demonstrate impact of D&I programs and initiatives. 
  • Develop and oversee an action plan to address racism and discrimination in the organization in close coordination with key stakeholders.  
  • Advise and support internal events on racial discrimination and other forms of discrimination.
  • Collaborate on development of training programs and seminars on diversity and inclusion for UN Women personnel.
  • Establish collaboration and partnerships with leaders at all levels in UN Women and counterparts and stakeholders outside the organization, including with other UN agencies.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in social sciences, gender, international development, business administration, management, economics or a related field.  
  • A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.  
  • Advanced studies in the field of diversity and inclusion or organizational change management is desirable.
  •  At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in the area of gender equality, public policy, social justice or human rights.
  • At least 6 years’ experience in programme management and policy development.  
  • Experience working in the area of diversity and inclusion is required.
  • Experience in advisory capacity on racial discrimination is required.
  • Experience in working on innovation and change management initiatives is desirable. 
  • International experience is desirable.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language is desirable (French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish).
