The University of Connecticut seeks a dynamic and technically skilled professional to join Information Technology Services (ITS) as a Team Lead 2. In this full-time role, you will lead and actively contribute to the support, optimization, and implementation of enterprise applications and system integrations that enable critical university operations.
As a Team Lead 2, you will manage IT professionals supporting Facilities Services and University Planning systems, while serving as a senior technical resource responsible for hands-on system administration, configuration, upgrades, troubleshooting, and production support of complex application environments. You will provide advanced technical leadership and recommend scalable technology solutions, while directly engaging in system implementations, integrations, and operational support.
Leveraging deep technical expertise, you will drive improvements in system performance and operational efficiency within a multi-tier environment, lead complex technical initiatives with minimal oversight, and work across the application lifecycle—from implementation and upgrades through ongoing support and issue resolution. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability, security, and availability of critical services.
This position is designated as a hybrid role, requiring a minimum on-campus presence of three (3) days per week at the Storrs campus.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Provide leadership and hands-on technical support for applications and system integrations.
- →Maintain accountability for the availability and continuity of systems and services.
- →Collaborate with stakeholders, peers, vendors, and management to support and enhance enterprise applications and integrations.
- →Participates in planning and prioritization of application enhancements, upgrades, and service improvements.
- →Research, evaluate, prototype, and recommend new technologies for adoption.
- →Provide hands-on administration of applications running on Windows and Linux virtual machines, including performance monitoring and tuning, security mitigation, firewall policy management, SSL administration, host and database migrations, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
- →Oversees cloud-hosted applications, including vendor management, SLA compliance, support case coordination, and system performance and availability.
- →Develop and implement procedures to improve the performance and efficiency of software and hardware systems.
- →Assigns, supervises, and reviews staff work, ensuring alignment with priorities and performance expectations.
- →Mentor staff and foster the sharing of technical knowledge and expertise.
- →Ensure staff produce and maintain detailed functional and technical documentation.
- →Collaborates across IT teams to achieve assigned objectives and meet division goals.
- →Ensures confidentiality, integrity, and availability of university information in accordance with the University Information Security Program.

Requirements
~2 min read- Associates degree and 8 years of related experience OR Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of related experience OR 10 years of related experience.
- One year of experience supervising staff or leading major projects.
- Two years of experience supporting enterprise applications, including system administration, troubleshooting, upgrades, and production support in a complex environment.
- Two years of experience managing application vendors, including support case coordination, issue escalation, and ensuring service delivery expectations are met.
- Demonstrated proficiency authoring and executing SQL queries in relational database systems such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, or equivalent platforms.
- Demonstrated proficiency in accessing and interacting with web service APIs, including making authenticated requests, parsing responses, and integrating data into enterprise applications.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated planning and organizational skills.
- Experience managing enterprise applications supporting operational areas such as Facilities Operations, Construction Planning, Parking Services, Mail Services, Print Services, Fleet Services, or similar domains.
- Experience with Apache, Tomcat, Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS), or similar web server technologies.
- Experience with Boomi, Informatica, MuleSoft, or similar low-code integration platforms.
- Proficiency in maintaining and troubleshooting web applications using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery.
- Experience with Atlassian tools, such as JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, and Pipelines, supporting software development and lifecycle management.
- Experience with AI tools or frameworks, including those used to develop or support generative or agentic solutions in enterprise environments.
- Two years of professional work experience in Higher Education.
