The University of Denver Libraries, comprised of the Main Library at the Anderson Academic Commons, the Bonfils Stanton Music Library in the Newman Center, and the off-site Hampden Center storage facility, is a highly collaborative, team-based organization that serves an inclusive population, ranging from our students, staff, and faculty to public and other academic patrons from the surrounding region. Opened on March 25, 2013, the Anderson Academic Commons is the campus centerpiece for collaborative, technology-infused teaching, learning and engagement. The University of Denver Libraries are central to discovery and creative interaction among students and faculty, and provide collections, services, personnel, and systems that support the teaching and research programs of the University. Reporting to the Scholarly Communications Librarian, this full-time, benefitted position provides critical support for the library’s scholarly communication program, which is built on the foundation of our institutional repository (Digital Commons@DU). Primary duties include creating metadata and uploading content to the repository, corresponding with campus authors, and working collaboratively on cross-divisional projects intended to improve research information management practices at the university. The person in this position will reconcile publication data between the institutional repository and other campus systems, assist in the creation of ORCIDs for university authors. This work requires great attention to detail and a keen understanding of bibliographic metadata and citation styles.
- Reconcile and deposit original publication content (thesis and dissertations, course materials, white papers, etc.) of DU authors between publishing systems, the institutional repository, and research information management systems, and assignment of licenses and DOIs.
- Assist DU authors with publication data management and entry into the faculty reporting system and managing researcher identifiers.
- Communicate with copyright holders regarding copyright permissions, and licenses, and apply to all deposits in the repository.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners as appropriate on cross departmental projects, and maintain accuracy of institutional affiliation data.
- Help maintain inventory and file storage, and contribute to assessment reports.
- Provide support for outreach activities and assist with planning library events related to DU scholarship.
- Adhere to best practice relating to digital content and accessibility, including Web Content Accessibility Guidelines when disseminating digital content.
Other Functions:
- Engage in cross-divisional team meetings and work closely with internal partners.
- Cross-train with other Scholarly Communication staff to support workloads during the academic cycle.
- Proficiency in the English language is required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Good judgment, problem-solving, analytical ability, and decision-making skills.
- Experience with citation styles and creating bibliographic metadata.
- Attention to detail, with a high accuracy rate in all work done.
- Ability to work independently, and collaboratively and cooperatively as a team member.

- Knowledge of licenses (open-access licenses, publication agreements, etc.).
- Understanding of the scholarly communication process.
- Experience using Digital Commons.
- Knowledge of basic HTML/XML.
- Experience using the Adobe Suite.
- Familiarity with vendor platforms, (Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed, Pure, ORCID, CrossRef, etc.).
- Familiarity with the application of embargo periods, HIPPA/FERPA guidelines, and suppression requirements.
- Standard office environment.
- Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
- Noise level is quiet to moderate.
- Ability to work in front of a computer for extended periods of time.
- Occasionally required to move about the office/campus.
