Manufacturing Technician

Universal Technical Resource Services, Inc. (UTRS) is currently seeking a Manufacturing Technician to join our team! This position will be a full-time position available, in Picatinny Arsenal, for a Manufacturing Technician who will be responsible for operating manufacturing and production equipment, preparing and cleaning manufactured components, performing routine dimensional inspections, maintaining inventory, and supporting day-to-day manufacturing operations. The technician works closely with machinists, engineers, and other manufacturing personnel to ensure parts are produced, processed, inspected, and documented in accordance with established procedures and quality requirements.

What will you be doing?

This position will be a key member of DEVCOM AC.

Duties include:

• Operate manufacturing equipment, cleaning equipment, and other related production equipment in accordance with established procedures and work instructions.
• Load, unload, stage, and transfer materials and components throughout the manufacturing process.
• Perform cleaning, deburring, washing, drying, and other required secondary operations on manufactured components.
• Conduct routine dimensional spot checks using common inspection equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measurement tools.
• Record inspection results and production information accurately and maintain required documentation.
• Identify and report dimensional, visual, or process-related issues to the appropriate technician, machinist, engineer, or supervisor.
• Maintain accurate inventory of raw materials, components, tooling, consumables, and finished parts.
• Perform material counts and reconcile physical inventory with inventory records.
• Properly identify, label, package, and store parts and materials to prevent damage, loss, or mix-ups.
• Assist with machine and equipment setup, changeovers, routine adjustments, and basic troubleshooting.
• Perform routine operator-level equipment maintenance and housekeeping.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Follow manufacturing travelers, work instructions, drawings, standard operating procedures, and quality requirements.
• Assist machinists, engineers, and other manufacturing personnel with production and prototype activities as required.
• Recognize abnormal equipment operation or process conditions and promptly notify appropriate personnel.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities focused on safety, quality, productivity, and process efficiency.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What skills will the ideal candidate have to be successful?

This position will require the following skillsets and experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand basic manufacturing processes.
• Ability to read and follow written work instructions, procedures, and basic engineering drawings.
• Basic understanding of dimensional measurement and inspection practices.
• Ability to use common hand tools and measurement equipment.
• Basic computer skills and ability to enter and maintain production or inventory information.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
• Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a manufacturing team.
• Ability to safely operate manufacturing equipment after appropriate training.
• Previous experience in a machine shop, manufacturing, fabrication, production, or inspection environment.
• Experience operating CNC or other automated manufacturing equipment.
• Experience using calipers, micrometers, gauges, or other precision measurement equipment.
• Experience with inventory control or manufacturing tracking systems.
• Familiarity with engineering drawings, tolerances, and basic GD&T concepts.
• Experience performing part cleaning, deburring, finishing, or other secondary manufacturing operations.
• Technical school, vocational training, or relevant manufacturing certification.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while performing manufacturing activities.
• Ability to lift and move materials and components within established safety limits.
• Ability to perform repetitive manufacturing and inspection tasks.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment around machinery, tooling, chemicals, noise, and other normal shop conditions.

• Must be US Citizen.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
