Seeking a full-time Wind Turbine Generator Technician (WTG) in support of Base Operations Services (BOS) and Mission Support Services (MSS) at Ascension Auxiliary Air Field (AAAF). - Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on wind turbines, including electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
- Conduct diagnostics and troubleshooting to identify faults and repair turbine components.
- Ensure safety compliance by following established procedures and industry best practices.
- Document and report on turbine performance, maintenance activities, and system health.
- Work collaboratively with engineering and operations teams to optimize energy production.
- Assist in high-voltage electrical work and ensure compliance with grid integration requirements.
- Maintain inventory control of spare parts and tools necessary for ongoing maintenance.
- • Performed scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on DirectWind DW52 wind turbines.
- • Diagnosed and repaired Pitch Controller faults, breaker trips, and turbine shutdown events.
- • Conducted troubleshooting on hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- • Supported turbine restart operations following grid interruptions and severe weather conditions.
- • Inspected blades, nacelle equipment, yaw systems, and tower components.
- • Utilized SCADA systems to monitor turbine performance and identify faults.
- • Executed climbing operations up to 40m+ hub height while following fall protection standards.
- • Prepared maintenance reports, fault logs, and corrective action documentation.
- • Supported remote-site operations under contingency and austere conditions.
- Mechanic’s tool kit, various hand, and power tools.
- May be exposed to potentially hazardous conditions that require wear of hard hats, gloves, steel toed boots, hearing protection, safety glasses and other personal protection equipment (PPE); may be required to push, pull, and lift heavy equipment.
- Use of portable radios or cell phones to maintain contact and accountability of work activities.
- The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
- The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
- Certified to climb up to 300 feet on the exterior and interior of the Wind Turbine
- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized. This factor is important if the amount and kind of climbing required exceeds that required for ordinary locomotion.
- Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling and walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces. This factor is important if the amount of balancing exceeds that needed for ordinary locomotion and maintenance of body equilibrium.
Requirements

- Must maintain a valid passport from their home country with validity for 12 months from on-site employment date
- Must be able to gain and maintain authorized entry onto US military installations.
- Must meet United States Department of Defense medical requirements necessary to live and work at Ascension Island

Requirements

- GWO (Global Wind Organization) certification

- Preferred experience operating and maintaining ‘DirectWind’ Wind Turbines, Series: DW 52-900KW
- 3+ years of experience in wind turbine maintenance or power generation systems.
- Strong knowledge of SCADA systems, PCL/Pitch controller troubleshooting, and electrical schematics.
- Ability to climb and work at heights exceeding 200 feet.
- Great interpersonal skills.

- Ability to multi-task.
