Develop and maintain detailed electrical models for components and systems using Matlab / Simulink simulation software.
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Engineer with expertise in Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) modeling and simulation using OPAL-RT. The HIL Simulation Engineer will develop reusable software and hardware solutions to support multiple Product Lines, ensuring robust and scalable designs. This role requires proficiency in Matlab/Simulink and the ability to collaborate closely with internal design teams to meet Product Line HIL requirements. The ideal candidate will bring strong problem-solving skills, a passion for innovation, and experience in creating advanced simulation environments that accelerate product development and validation..
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Model Development: Develop and maintain detailed electrical models for components and systems using Matlab / Simulink simulation software.
- →Simulation and Analysis: Conduct simulations to predict the behavior and performance of electrical systems under various conditions. Analyze results to identify potential issues and optimize designs.
- →Hardware-in-the-Loop: Develop and maintain HIL hardware, software, and simulations on an OPAL-RT platform for all of the Vertiv Power Management BU’s product lines (Uninterruptable Power Supplies, Static Transfer Switches, Power Distribution Units, Solid Stat Transformers etc.).
- →Design Optimization: Collaborate with design teams to integrate simulation results into the design process. Provide HIL-as-a-Service to the Product Line design teams.
- →Validation and Testing: Validate simulation models through experimental testing and correlation with real-world data. Ensure models are accurate and reliable by comparing simulation results with physical prototypes.
- →Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, software developers, and product managers, to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems. Communicate findings and recommendations effectively to stakeholders.
- →Customer Focus: Work directly with customers and their engineering team to solve problems through accurate models of the customer’s facility.
- →Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of models, simulation procedures, and results. Prepare technical reports and presentations for upper management and project teams.
- →Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest advancements in modeling and simulation technologies and tools. Implement new tools and techniques to improve simulation accuracy and efficiency.
- →Specialized Expertise: Apply knowledge of power electronic converters, feedback control algorithms, machine learning techniques, software-in-the-loop (SIL), hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) to optimize the design and prepare the design for handoff to development teams.
