The Responsible Welding Coordinator (RWC) is responsible for ensuring that all welding activities within the fabrication department are planned, executed, monitored, and documented in compliance with EN 1090 and related welding standards. The role ensures product conformity, traceability, quality, and continuous improvement of welding processes across the business. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Act as the designated Responsible Welding Coordinator in accordance with EN 1090 requirements. 
  • Ensure all welding activities comply with:  
  • EN 1090 
  • EN ISO 3834 
  • Relevant EN ISO welding standards (e.g. EN ISO 15614, EN ISO 9606). 
  • Maintain welding compliance for audits, certifications, and notified body inspections. 
  • Act as the designated Responsible Welding Coordinator in accordance with EN 1090 requirements.

  • Ensure welding documentation is current, accurate, and readily available on the shop floor. 
  • Maintain welding traceability in line with execution class (EXC requirements). 
  • Develop, review, approve, and control:

  • Welder Qualification Records (WQRs) 
  • Ensure welding documentation is current, accurate, and readily available on the shop floor.

  • Ensure welders are appropriately qualified and approved for assigned tasks. 
  • Identify training needs and coordinate welder qualifications, renewals, and upskilling. 
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to welders and supervisors.

Requirements

  • Experience working across multiple execution classes (EXC1–EXC3). 
  • Familiarity with structural steel fabrication for construction or industrial projects. 
  • Strong working knowledge of EN 1090 and EN ISO 3834
  • Proven experience in a fabrication or structural steel environment. 
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols. 
  • Experience working across multiple execution classes (EXC1–EXC3).
