Senior Backend Engineer

As a Senior Backend Engineer at Via, you’ll work within our core R&D center as a member of our Platform team. You’ll be part of a team of developers and devops engineers, directly contributing to our product by using cutting-edge technologies. You’ll take a critical part in our mission to shape the future of transportation, affecting tens of thousands of riders daily worldwide.

The Platform Group is a cross-functional group dedicated to building and maintaining the robust foundation on which Via operates. This team is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes clusters, CI/CD systems, shared services and tools that power our development and production environments.

• →Design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems that improve Via’s platform.
• →Own backend features end-to-end, from architecture and implementation to deployment and maintenance.
• →Define infrastructure and standards for engineering teams across the company.
• →Research and recommend new technologies for our engineering teams.
• →Develop a deep understanding of the software and architecture at Via.
• →Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve backend issues to ensure system uptime and performance.
• →Work closely with partner teams across the company to enable success.

• 5+ years of experience building robust backend or full-stack software systems.
• Expertise in developing and maintaining APIs, distributed systems, and efficient database architectures.
• Familiar with cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform).
• Skilled in system design, debugging, and performance optimization.
