Vulcan Elements is building a team of ambitious professionals committed to Mission Focus, Technical Excellence and Transparency.

As an Environmental Manager you will establish and lead programs that ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and permits and prepare Vulcan Elements sites for future environmental compliance and stewardship.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain programs and permits including but not limited to an air permit, stormwater permit, wastewater permit, hazardous materials, chemical exposure monitoring, and sustainability.
  • Conduct training, investigations, sampling, audits, and compliance reporting required by local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Develop a rapport with and be the liaison to regulatory agencies and ensure timely reporting and remediation of issues.
  • Develop and manage hazardous materials program as it relates to waste management, disposal, recycling, and any regulatory requirements.
  • Implement spill response procedures and ensure proper storage and labeling of all containers.
  • Investigate and document permit exceedances and ensure effective corrective actions.
  • Maintain and update all SDSs related to Vulcan Elements facilities.
  • Establish and track KPIs and metrics while monitoring trends and driving continuous improvement.
  • Implement and manage a program related to green initiatives and sustainability.
  • Monitor workplace environments ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Ensure attainment and maintenance of ISO 14001 certification.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, chemistry, environmental engineering, or a relevant field
  • At least 4 years in environmental management for a manufacturing facility
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements for stormwater, air, hazardous materials management and wastewater
  • SDS creation and system management
  • Experience with ISO 14001
  • Experience with green initiatives
  • Excellent communication and training skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with emergency response and crisis management
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities.
