Summary: Reporting to a Senior Legal Advisor, the Legal Advisor plays a key role in supporting the Legal function and contributing to Waystone’s continued growth. The role combines technical legal expertise with a pragmatic, business-oriented approach to advising on fund structures, regulatory matters and strategic projects across the organisation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deal with the different legal and governance aspects related to the different functions of Waystone and especially related to the lifecycle management of investment funds and legal deliverables on strategic projects;
- Provide high-quality legal guidance and practical support to Waystone’s internal stakeholders and clients across the full lifecycle of investment funds (launch, operation, restructuring and termination);
- Assist on legal and governance aspects relating to Waystone’s core service lines, with a strong focus on ManCo/AIFM activities and related regulatory frameworks;
- Support complex and strategic initiatives, ensuring legal risks are appropriately identified, assessed and mitigated;
- Act as a trusted legal partner to business teams, delivering clear, solution-driven advice aligned with commercial objectives;
- Escalate key legal matters and risks to the Senior Legal Counsel, ensuring appropriate visibility and governance;
- Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial and fund-related agreements (e.g., IMAs, PMAs, service agreements, NDAs);
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of internal legal processes, templates and governance frameworks;
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues across Legal, Compliance and other functions on domestic, cross-border and cross-functional projects;
- Represent Waystone in industry working groups (e.g., ALFI, LPEA) and contribute to regulatory and market developments.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in the fund industry
- Strong regulatory and legal knowledge in the field of asset management and regulated and unregulated funds
- Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with senior management, committees and boards
- Capacity and affinity to work in an international environment
- Solution-oriented approach to resolving problems and ability to handle multiple complex matters in parallel
Education:
- Master in Law
- CCDL - Cours complémentaires en droit luxembourgeois considered a plus
- Advanced legal education with relevant Law and/or Finance certifications demonstrating strong expertise in Luxembourg law.
