The Medical Technologist is responsible for performing, evaluating, and reporting technical laboratory procedures on patient specimens to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. This role adheres to established protocols ensuring quality control and compliance with regulatory and professional standards. Responsibilities

  • Conduct accurate and appropriate testing of patient specimens based on established laboratory protocols.
  • Timely and accurate reporting of test results in accordance with lab standards.
  • Maintain quality control, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Utilize and manage laboratory resources effectively, including productivity tools, supplies, instruments, and equipment.
  • Adhere to safety standards, including the handling of hazardous materials and emergency responsiveness.

Requirements

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or a natural science discipline.
  • Current Tennessee licensure as a Medical Technologist (or Special Analyst) required if employed in Tennessee.
  • Must operate within the scope of licensure.
  • Basic knowledge of lab procedures, instrumentation, and laboratory information systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, peers, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks involving medium work, including handling up to 50 lbs., and visual acuity to perform detailed work.
