For a century, Universal Pictures has been known for its diverse slate of films including Jaws, E.T., Jurassic Park and The Fast and Furious franchise as well as for its critically acclaimed fan favorites Get Out, Oppenheimer and Promising Young Woman.
The Supervisor, Activation – Search, Social, and Programmatic is responsible for developing and leading the paid search, paid social, and programmatic media approach and executing these tactics via multiple search, social, and programmatic channels for Universal Pictures campaigns.
As the Supervisor, Activation, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management, quality assurance, and execution of Universal’s paid search, social, and programmatic advertising initiatives across the Performance vertical. This role involves guiding the team through campaign builds and post-analysis, evaluating vendors, managing internal/external timelines, and maintaining strong relationships with clients, leadership, and media partners.

Guide Performance team in the planning and execution of media strategies and recommendations for Universal campaigns

Oversee campaigns for all film titles across Performance vertical from initial build through post analysis

Responsible for team’s day-to-day maintenance of Performance plans for all film titles

Manage the team’s work within individual tactical documents (ie. Creative Deadlines, Plan Details, Inputs Tabs, Airtable)

In-depth check for accuracy and quality assurance of all documents and executions pertaining to Performance

Provide evidence of rigorous evaluation of recommended vendors/tactics

Include commentary on cost analysis, performance benchmarks, audience reach/scale and capabilities of partners/platforms that are recommended as well as those considered, but not recommended

React to performance of media proactively and in real time

Minimize executional errors, including timely launches, campaign pacing and spending of campaign budgets

Communicate updates to AMD and Directors immediately

Manage internal timelines to meet external deadlines

Allocate adequate time for senior review and feedback of the team’s work prior to delivery to Universal

Participate in the creation and delivery of thought pieces (POVs)
- Attend and participate in Universal/agency meetings
- Manage and maintain relationships with external partners (ie. media vendors)
- Understand the media landscape and meet with vendors to proactively keep abreast of trends
- Support Universal email/phone communication as necessary and required
- Effectively communicate with leadership team (AMD and up) and direct reports to maintain efficient workflow
- Backup Activation Director and Activation planning team during periods of personal time off/open roles
- Collaborate with other Managers/Supervisors to build holistic strategies and plans
- Manage the day to day workload of planners and assistant
- Provide constructive feedback to planner and assistant level team members in a timely manner
- Effectively solve problems, escalating media or billing issues when necessary
Requirements
~1 min read- Hands-on experience planning, executing, and managing multi-channel biddable campaigns across Paid Social (Meta, TikTok, YouTube, Snap), Programmatic (The Trade Desk), and Paid Search (Google Ads).
- Knowledge of paid search, paid social, and programmatic platforms/DSPs (Google Ads, Facebook/Instagram, Snap, TikTok, YouTube, The Trade Desk).
- Minimum of 4-5 years of paid social, programmatic, and/or paid search experience in an agency environment.
- Proven experience managing and delegating workloads to direct reports (Planners and Assistants) and providing timely performance feedback.
- High confidence and professional demeanor when communicating and building relationships with clients in a fast-paced environment.
- Passion for and awareness of pop culture, entertainment, and current film landscape.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and QA standards.
- High level of technical proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint, as well as workflow tools like Airtable.
