Under the authority of the YKDFN Government Chiefs and Council and reporting to the Director, Economic Development, the EDO is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, and implementing economic development initiatives, policies, and strategies that improve the community and socio-economic status, in the communities of Ndilo and Dettah. This position is located in Dettah, with frequent travel to Ndilǫ and Yellowknife as required.
Working time is divided between the office, meeting with community members, working with partners, Giant Mine Working Group, Det’on Cho’s EDO and the Giant Mine Project Team, which includes the Main Construction Manager’s Community Economic Development Officer. The EDO must be familiar with background materials and information relating to the YKDFN and the political processes.
The EDO is to use a grass root perspective to locate and meet with individuals, businesses, key contacts and government service providers, as well as relevant departments within YKDFN. In doing so, the EDO will continually exercise abilities to solve problems, think critically, take responsibility, practice sound judgement and prioritize multiple projects.
