Technical Tester (Backend, Test Automation, SQL)

We are looking for a Technical Tester to join our long-term partnership with ICA Banken.

This is a full-time, on-site position in Sarajevo, with a start date as soon as possible.

The initial engagement is planned to run until February 2028, with the possibility of extension or continuation on another project within the wider ICA partnership.

You will work on backend, API, integration, and database testing of business-critical banking systems.

This role requires strong hands-on test automation and backend testing experience, with the ability to contribute to automation from the start.

You will work on business-critical backend systems within ICA Banken, supporting core banking operations and integrations with other systems across ICA.

As ICA’s web and mobile applications are modernized, the underlying backend services must support new functionality and changing requirements. You will help verify these changes through API testing, database validation, integration testing, and automated regression testing.

The primary focus is backend testing, ensuring that business logic, data flows, and integrations work reliably as the systems evolve.

The work includes:

• Developing, maintaining, and executing automated tests
• Testing backend systems, APIs, and integrations
• Validating contracts, data mappings, and error handling
• Performing data validation and troubleshooting using SQL
• Following data and requests across different system components
• Building and maintaining automated regression coverage
• Investigating defects across APIs, services, databases, and integrations
• Running automated tests through CI/CD processes
• Combining automated and manual testing where appropriate
• Collaborating with technical and business stakeholders in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sweden
• Continuously improving test coverage and overall software quality

• 3–5 years of professional software testing experience
• Strong hands-on backend testing and test automation experience
• Experience with Playwright or a comparable modern automation framework
• Experience using TypeScript, C#, or another programming language for test automation
• Strong hands-on experience with API testing
• Practical SQL experience for data validation and troubleshooting
• Experience testing integrations, including contracts, data mapping, and error handling
• Good understanding of how APIs, backend services, databases, and integrations interact
• Experience maintaining automated regression tests
• Experience with CI/CD environments
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and test design skills
• Ability to work independently and investigate issues before escalation
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Good English communication skills

• Experience with Playwright and TypeScript
• Experience with C# and RestSharp
• Experience with performance testing tools such as LoadRunner
• Experience with Jira and Azure DevOps
• Experience with BrowserStack or mobile application testing
• Experience using AI tools in software testing
• Previous experience in banking, financial services, or insurance
• ISTQB Foundation or another relevant testing certification
