Hourly Rate: $19 per hour starting

It is typically free, confidential, and available 24/7. Specifically, 211 Northeast Michigan offers database support, call coverage, outreach, and community support for 23 predominantly rural counties in Northeast Michigan.

Job Overview:

The Database Curator is responsible for performing data entry tasks that contribute to the development and maintenance of accurate resource database records utilized by 211 Northeast Michigan to support community services. Additional responsibilities may be assigned at the discretion of the supervisor.


Responsibilities:

  • Development and Maintenance
    of the resource database using various research and collection methods including but not limited to
    the Internet, survey forms and/or direct contact with service agency representatives.
  • Maintain resource database standardization, integrity of database development.
  • Policies and use of established taxonomy and formatting practices as outlined in the MI 2-1-1 style guide.
  • Participate in special projects pertaining to resource maintenance, quality assurance, data editing, data verification and record standardization.
  • Acquire proficiency using resource maintenance software features to edit, proof and verify resource data entries.
  • Ability to meet Inform USA certification standards, including preparing for and obtaining CRS D/C certification through Inform USA professional testing.
  • Protect and respect consumer information by discussing all concerns only with designated call center employees and within the physical confines of a confidential environment. 
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Other duties as assigned and/or requested by the direct supervisor.

Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in public health, social work, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience working in human services, social services, or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in using digital tools and technology for virtual engagement.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified as a Community Health Worker (CHW) or willing to obtain certification.

Key Competencies:

Accuracy in editing/proofing materials is required. Must be detail-oriented and a self-starter. Willing to learn and adaptable to change. Good analytical skills are necessary, Must be proficient in various PC-based and Microsoft Office applications. Must have the ability to define problems, to collect data, to establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Must have the ability to use resources and technology to acquire and organize information.

Must have in-depth knowledge of government, nonprofit, public health and/or human services systems. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required. Must be flexible and willing to work in a team environment. Objectivity and a non-judgmental attitude are required. Must be respectful of worldviews that differ from one’s own. Must have the ability to communicate and interact with individuals and professionals from a diverse educational, socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to read and use a computer screen for several hours each shift. This includes close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee may be required to sit or stand at a workstation for several hours each shift. The employee must report any discomfort or pain immediately to the direct supervisor. The employee must be able to travel in all kinds of weather and have reliable transportation. Work Hours: Must maintain full-time hours at 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday and be available on call as requested during disasters/other qualifying events.
