JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: MRI TECHNOLOGIST ASSISTANT
MAIN FUNCTION:
Works within a team environment assisting the Radiologic Technologist in the performance of radiologic procedures. Reports to the Director of Radiology or their designee.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
TECHNICAL:
1. Assists in setting up and breaking down equipment.
2. Performs room set-up by gathering appropriate supplies and equipment according to established protocol.
3. Assists with moving and positioning patients.
4. Assists in the stocking and cleaning of procedure rooms.
5. Assists in the coordination of patient flow through the department.
6. Anticipates patient flow timing and arranges for patient to be properly gowned prior to exam.
7. Completes patient screening protocols prior to initiation of procedure.
8. Participates in the "call report" process.
9. Is knowledgeable about the TeleRadiology system and sends films as requested.
COMPUTER:
1. Demonstrates the knowledge and ability to work within the Medical Center's computer system.
2. Maintains computer security.
3. Produces schedules, and assist the technologist in the documentation of performed procedures.
COMMUNICATION:
1. Promptly answers the telephone in a professional and courteous manner.
2. Demonstrates the knowledge and ability to utilize various telephone applications but not limited to forwarding and establishing conference calls.
CLERICAL:
1. Prescreens patients for MRI procedure
2. Documents patients exams in HIS
3. Verify and complete exams in Pacs system
WORKING RELATIONSHIP:
1. Has general knowledge of the Medical Center's departments and how these departments interact with each other. Interacts with physician and physician's offices in a positive and courteous manner.
2. Establishes and maintains collaborative working relationships with other health team members.
3. May perform other duties as requested by supervisor/manager which contributes to the smooth operation of the department.
QUALITY:
1. Demonstrates reliability in the conscientious, complete and accurate manner in which work assignments are performed.
2. Demonstrates Quality Improvement principles in daily work and participates in QI monitoring and reporting.

1. Demonstrates flexibility in work schedule to meet the needs of the department.
2. Demonstrates the ability to perform multiple tasks as required by the position.
3. Continuously utilizes time to maximize full potential, sets priorities and is uses good organizational skills.
SAFETY:
1. Functions within an awareness of risk management and safety issues, reports concerns appropriately.
2. Maintains complete understanding of the Medical Center's emergency codes. Understands role in emergency situations.
PROFESSIONALISM:
1. Is accountable for own actions.
2. Maintains professional behavior and appearance. Wears Medical Center's ID Badge.
3. Maintains and respects patients and patient confidentiality.
4. Addresses internal and external customers in a pleasant and respectful manner, displaying courtesy at all times.
5. Attends staff meetings.
6. Attends mandatory in servicing and educational programs as required by the department and/or Medical Center.
EDUCATION:
High School diploma or equivalent experience required. Knowledge of medical terminology required. Experience with personal computers and windows applications
EXPERIENCE:
1. Good organizational, communication, and customer relations skills.
2. Telephone courtesy.
3. Hospital experience required. Radiology experience desired.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work requires walking, standing often in excess of 90% of the time. Work requires bending, stooping, reaching and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs., moving patients. Work requires pushing beds, stretchers, and mobile x-ray equipment.
EXPOSURE CATEGORY:
Category II. Tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. But employment may require performing unplanned Category I tasks.
