The Lowbed Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of heavy machinery and equipment to various locations using a lowbed truck. This role emphasizes adherence to safety regulations, effective communication with dispatch and team members, and meticulous documentation. The Lowbed Operator plays a critical role in ensuring the timely delivery of equipment while maintaining safety and operational standards.

Your day-to-day will look like: 

• Safely operate company lowbed vehicles to transport machinery to designated locations.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in safe working condition.
• Load and unload heavy equipment, adhering to proper handling techniques to prevent damage.
• Maintain accurate delivery records, including trip logs and inspection reports.
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members to coordinate schedules and address any issues.
• Follow all traffic laws and company policies related to vehicle operation and safety.
• Plan and optimize delivery routes for efficiency and compliance with time constraints. 
• Ensure secure fastening of loads, verifying compliance with weight, height and balance regulations.

You have the following qualifications, technical and interpersonal skills: 

Qualifications:

• Valid Class 1 Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
• Proven experience in commercial driving and operating lowbed trucks.
• Physical fitness and ability to handle manual tasks associated with equipment transportation.
• Considered an Asset:
  • Experience delivering heavy machinery to construction sites or remote locations.
  • Familiarity with advanced securing techniques and technologies for heavy loads.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours to meet operational needs.
    

Technical Skills: 

• Proficient in operating lowbed trucks and handling heavy machinery safely.
• Familiarity with heavy equipment and forklift operation.
• Strong knowledge of transportation safety regulations and compliance requirements.
• Ability to troubleshoot minor mechanical issues and perform basic maintenance tasks.

• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills for route planning and record-keeping.
