Traveling Survey Crew Chief

• 4-10 Years of experience as a Survey Crew Chief, construction staking experience & robotic total station experience.
• Topcon/Trimble GPS Survey System equipment and software experience.
• Ability to travel to projects as needed
• Trimble Business Center experience.
• CAD/Civil3D exposure preferred.

As a Survey Technician, you will actively participate in team and project coordination meetings to streamline planning and progress. In the field, you will setup, operate, and manage an array of survey equipment-including Trimble GPS Base and Rover Systems, robotic total stations, drones, laser scanners, and utility locators-while collecting crucial data via data collectors. A significant aspect of this role involves traveling to project sites for up to two weeks at a time to support construction staking, perform site calibrations, establish project survey control, and train field personnel. You will also handle field QC/QA verification of construction progress, maintain project survey precision, and assist with machine control setup and troubleshooting. Back in the office, you will utilize Trimble Business Center, Magnet Office Software, and Trimble ManageWorks to download field data, connect to data collectors, and draft survey linework. While training can be provided for some software elements, your responsibilities will include processing and preparing aerial survey data, generating contour maps and alignments, and developing survey models from project design documentation for field deployment. Finally, you will support overall project delivery by conducting extensive research into previous survey evidence, deeds, and maps, maintaining accurate field notes and sketches, and solving complex surveying mathematical problems utilizing scientific calculators and COGO routines.
