As a division within our BioAgilytix Boston facility, BioAgilytix Diagnostics is CLIA-certified, CAP-accredited, New York State licensed clinical diagnostic testing facility providing esoteric testing services to the top reference laboratories and supporting clinical trial testing.
 
The Medical Technologist II/III in our BioAgilytix Boston facility is responsible for performing high complexity Clinical Diagnostic patient testing and clinical trial testing covered under CLIA.
 
  • Performing HIPAA-compliant high complexity testing according to approved procedures and within established turnaround times.
  • Analyzing, reviewing, approving, and reporting test and quality control results according to established acceptance criteria and approved procedures. Maintaining paper and electronic records of test results.
  • Complying with quality assurance procedures, participating in proficiency testing and competency evaluation throughout the year.
  • Identifying problems which may adversely affect test performance, troubleshooting test systems and taking appropriate action when appropriate or as directed by Laboratory Management. Including proactively informing Customer Service of any issues which may cause late results.
  • Performing and documenting routine equipment use, maintenance, calibration as well as routine, scheduled, and unscheduled preventive maintenance.
  • Participating in method development and equipment qualification activities as directed by Laboratory Management.
  • Supporting audits, inspections, and assisting in responding to observations, if applicable.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, guidelines, and MT certification through continuing education.
  • Overseeing technical and logistical aspects of assigned assays and the work of other technologists on those assays. Training other technologists on tests and laboratory procedures.
  • Actively participating in project based and continuous improvement work and other duties as needed.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Biology, Biochemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in testing moderate- to high-complexity assays or Master’s degree in one of the above fields with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience
  • Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Biology, Biochemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field with a minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in testing moderate- to high-complexity assays; or Master’s degree in one of the above fields with a minimum of six (6) years’ experience; or PhD in one of the above fields with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience
  • Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
  • Solid knowledge and application of CLIA, CAP, and CLEP regulations, standards, and guidelines.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, where multiple concurrent projects must be completed in a timely manner remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient with a high level of professionalism. Ability to take direction well, multi-task, and exercise sound independent judgment within areas of responsibility.
  • Strong hands-on laboratory skills: low volume pipetting in 96-well plates, confident and competent user of state-of-the-art laboratory instrumentation.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Acute attention to detail and excellent organizational, and communication skills, highly computer literate.
  • Primarily laboratory environment
  • Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms
  • Rare exposure to skin and lung irritants, toxic materials, and hazardous waste
  • Personal protective equipment is required and provided, such as protective eyewear, garments, and gloves
  • Routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets
  • This is a full-time position with (Tuesday-Saturday) or (Monday-Friday) schedules available
  • Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours, for Tuesday to Friday, as published in the BioAgilytix Employee Handbook
  • Occasional weekend, holiday, and evening work may be required
  • Ability to work in an upright and/or stationary position for up to eight (8) hours per day
  • Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists to operate lab equipment
  • Frequent mobility needed
  • Frequent crouching, stooping, with frequent bending and twisting of upper body and neck
  • Light to moderate lifting and carrying (or otherwise moves) objects, including laboratory equipment, laboratory supplies, and laptop computer, with a maximum lift of 20 pounds
  • Ability to access and use a variety of computer software
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand, with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
  • Frequently interacts with others to obtain or relate information to diverse groups
  • Requires multiple periods of intense concentration
  • Perform a wide range of variable tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions with little predictability as to the occurrence; ability to perform under stress; ability to multi-task
