Annual Salary Range: $52,220 to $83,211, contingent on years of relevant experience.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, SKILLS, ABILITIES
• Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Natural Science, Education (Elementary or Science preferred), Natural Resource Management, or equivalent
• Successful teaching experience in environmental education in an outdoor setting preferred
• Preferred experience in coordinating group dynamics and teaching/working with elementary age students
• Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions and flexible, 8-hour shifts (7:30-3:30 and 11:00-7:00)
• CPR and First aid certification preferred.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Assists in the development and implementation of environmental education activities (primarily elementary)
• Care and maintenance of laboratory equipment, captive animals, and exhibits at NCEEC
• Provides Environmental Education instruction to students and teachers in interpretive programs (outreach and the 5th grade Meaningful Watershed Education Experience MWEE)
• Assist in teacher professional development relevant to the scope of the environmental project
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Environmental Education Resource Teacher
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard. The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
