Brown Distributing Company is a leading beverage distributor throughout the state of Virginia. We are looking for a motivated and highly energetic Merchandiser to join our Merchandising team!

Schedule:

5 days a week and start time is no later than 6 a.m. until the route is complete.

You will be required to work one day a weekend (either a Saturday or Sunday), with one day off during the week.

Compensation:

  • $20.00/hour + PFP Potential (Pay for Performance): $400.00/month bonus = up to $22.31/hour

  • Vehicle Allowance of $550.00/month

  • Cell Phone Allowance of $25.00/month

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Establish and maintain a positive first name relationship with the customer which includes knowing the name of key management personnel at store level.

  • Completely replenish inventory levels located in the cooler, on end caps, warm shelves, on displays, and other areas where BDC products may be located.

  • Maintain product freshness guidelines as instructed. Keep sales representatives and merchandising leads informed of any close coded product that is in the market so appropriate action can be taken.

  • Assist sales representatives with executing POS and display building strategically and professionally.

  • Set up, arrange, and maintain product displays to ensure they align with company visual merchandising standards.

  • Ensure that all displays and products are in top condition, free from damage, and meet company quality standards.

  • Keep work area in a neat and orderly fashion. Please follow all BDC safety guidelines including the wearing of steel-toed slip resistant shoes. Report any safety issues and accidents immediately to merchandising leads.

SALES PROMOTION:

  • Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with our customer in every account.

  • Completely replenish inventory levels of Brown Distributing product located in every account. Inventory is replenished by moving backroom stock to displays, shelves, and coolers accessible to the consumer. The common industry term for this function is "packing out".

  • Turn all product labels so that labels are facing the consumer's eye. The common industry term for this function is "facing”.

  • Pulling any depleted items or items forward to the front so that the box is presented in a clean manner. The common industry term for this function is “fronting”.

  • Strategically place relative brand and/or promotion paper advertising material (POS, base wrap, etc.) as supplied by Brown Distributing.

  • Proper rotation of BDC products located in every account. This is done by placing oldest date of product to the front and keeping newer dated product furthest to the back.

  • Fill, rotate, and maintain all displays in every account.

  • Assist in display building as needed by sales representatives and merchandising leads.

  • Execution of all other sales promotion activities needed.

  • Stock, rotate, and organize backroom stock in a manner that allows for items to be easily picked and inventoried.

ADMINISTRATION:

  • Accurately record back stock movement to cooler or display.

  • Report and record any pertinent customer comments and/or complaints to the appropriate supervisor or other sales management personnel.

  • Complete all assigned classes, surveys, and evaluations.

  • Review miles driven each month in MOTUS mileage tracking.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Interaction with employees, customers, and retailers should be executed in a safe and productive manner.

  • Limit cell phone use to communicating with merchandising leads and sales representative in appropriate areas. VA law has banned the use of handheld devices while driving.

  • Follow all rules and regulations while driving.

INTERACTION:

  • Maintain a professional relationship with all other BDC employees that contributes to the development and enhancing of company morale.

  • Cooperate with all BDC personnel to improve and maintain company efficiency and service.

  • Respond to all customer requests and concerns in ways that will sustain positive long-term relationships.

  • Communicate with sales reps for accounts you will service that day for any changes or notes.

  • Report and record any pertinent customer comments and/or complaints to the appropriate supervisor or other sales management personnel.

  • Communicate with merchandising leads and/or team leads at the end of every day.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Your own transportation to drive from grocery store to grocery store.
  • A valid Real ID Virginia driver’s license with no negative points, no DUI convictions, no speeding tickets in the last 3 years.
  • Ability to maintain a great relationship with our customers', and be able to communicate effectively and comfortably.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. or more repetitively (Since stocking will be your main responsibility).
  • A flexible schedule: Start time is no later than 6 a.m.
