Job Title: Alumni Communications Coordinator
Reports to: Communications Manager
Location: 135 Morrissey Blvd., Suite S110A, Boston, MA 02125 (Hybrid)
Hours: Exempt, Full-Time
Summary of Position
The Alumni Communications Coordinator oversees the Camp Harbor View (CHV) Alumni Network, building a vital bridge between two decades of former campers, Connors Leadership Academy participants, and their families, while welcoming new graduates each year.
Reporting to the Communications Manager, this dynamic, dual-track role requires a proactive relationship builder who can balance authentic relationship management with digital storytelling. You will be responsible for keeping our community connected through robust content creation while strategically building out our "grateful recipient" fundraising pipeline, helping alumni and their families transition into active, proud ambassadors and donors who help "pay it forward" for the next generation of Boston youth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Network Strategy & Relationship Management
- Alumni Growth Strategy: Partner with leadership to implement a multi-generational alumni growth plan, re-engaging participants from CHV’s history while building a "launch" pipeline for current Leadership Academy graduates.
- Relationship Architecture: Build and maintain deep, trusted connections with alumni and their families, identifying individuals for mentorship opportunities, speaking engagements, and advocacy roles.
- Feedback Loops: Conduct exit interviews and annual check-ins with recent graduates to gather insights that improve programs and provide qualitative data for advancement efforts.
Content Creation & Social Media Capture
- On-the-Ground Content Capture: Actively attend CHV events, programs, and alumni gatherings to capture high-quality, real-time photo, video, and audio content.
- Digital Storytelling: In collaboration with the Communications Manager, produce compelling organic content—including social media features (Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn), alumni spotlights, and newsletters—that highlights the long-term impact of the CHV experience.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Act as the primary liaison between the Programs and Communications teams to ensure alumni successes are integrated seamlessly into the broader CHV narrative.
Grateful Recipient Advancement & Events
- "Pay It Forward" Fundraising: Collaborate with the individual giving team to design and execute outreach strategies targeted at alumni and families who have benefited from CHV programs, inviting them to financially support the mission as their circumstances allow.
- Advocacy Training: Train and coach alumni to serve as ambassadors, helping them share their personal stories authentically with donors, board members, and the wider Boston community.
- Event Integration: Manage alumni presence, storytelling, and activation at major organizational milestones, including the Beach Ball, the Golf Classic, and alumni-specific networking mixers.
- Data & Heritage Mapping: Work with the Operations team to audit historical participant data, ensuring our alumni database is accurate, reportable, and organized for long-term fundraising and outreach.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Experience: 1–4 years of professional experience, preferably in the areas of alumni relations, community organizing, communications, or nonprofit development.
- Digital Fluency: Proven experience managing social media platforms with a sharp eye for modern content creation (short-form video production, basic graphic design, and copywriting).
- Relational Intelligence: Superb interpersonal skills with an innate ability to connect authentically with a diverse group of stakeholders, from youth and neighborhood families to corporate donors and board members.
- Project Management: Highly organized and self-directed, with the ability to manage database tracking (Salesforce experience is a plus) alongside event logistics and content calendars.
- Local Landscape: Deep familiarity with Boston's neighborhoods and communities, allowing for culturally competent and respectful engagement with our network.
Culture Fit
We are looking for a grounded, energetic storyteller who values authenticity above all else. You hate "corporate fluff" and prefer speaking like a real person, both in conversation and in digital copy. You are passionate about the youth and families of Boston, possess high emotional intelligence, and are comfortable being a visible, active presence in our community. You are collaborative, eager to learn, and ready to take real ownership of a program that honors CHV's rich legacy while fueling its future.
