Here are some key benefits of being in a talent pool: Linkage to employers Access to Opportunities and skill matching Networking Career Development Position: Disaster and Risk Reduction Senior level (Talent Pool) Experience: Over 8 years Location: Multiple (Kenya and Global) Industries: Multiple Responsibilities: Develop and implement the organization's overall disaster risk reduction (DRR) strategy Manage and lead a team of disaster risk reduction (DRR) professionals Secure funding and resources for disaster risk reduction (DRR) programs and initiatives Represent the organization in high-level meetings and conferences on disaster risk reduction (DRR) Provide technical guidance and direction on complex disaster risk reduction (DRR) issues Oversee the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of DRR programs Ensure the integration of disaster risk reduction (DRR) principles into broader development strategies Advocate for disaster risk reduction (DRR) policies at local, national, and international levels Build and manage partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, and private sector actors Develop and implement communication strategies to raise awareness of disaster risk reduction (DRR) issues Lead research efforts on new and emerging disaster risk reduction (DRR) approaches Identify and implement innovative solutions to disaster risk reduction (DRR) challenges Contribute to the development of knowledge and best practices in disaster risk reduction (DRR) Requirements Core competencies: Strategic Leadership Management Resource Mobilization Communication (Advanced) Negotiation & Advocacy Decision-Making Political Acumen (for some positions) Technical Competencies: Advanced Understanding of disaster risk reduction (DRR) Principles Program Development & Management Technical Expertise (specific DRR area) Research & Innovation Policy & Advocacy Financial Management Qualifications Master's degree in a relevant field, such as environmental science, engineering, geography, public health, or social sciences Ph.D. in a relevant field may be preferred for some positions 8+ years of experience in disaster risk reduction, program management, research, or a closely related field Proven experience in leading and managing complex disaster risk reduction (DRR) programs and teams Experience working in a developing country or context is a strong asset Demonstrated experience securing funding and resources for disaster risk reduction (DRR) initiatives Strong leadership, management, resource mobilization, communication, negotiation, decision-making, and political acumen Advanced understanding of disaster risk reduction (DRR) principles, program development and management expertise, in-depth technical expertise in a specific disaster risk reduction (DRR) area, research and innovation skills, policy and advocacy expertise, and financial management knowledge Fluency in English is required.
