The Senior Actuarial Analyst (Reserving Data & Process Modernization) leads initiative to integrate traditional actuarial reserving science, financial systems, and workflow automation. This position coordinates, designs, and implements technical solutions to modernize and automate actuarial reserving data pipelines, loss development models, and financial reporting processes. The ideal candidate will work with little supervision to perform complex process engineering, optimize legacy workflows (such as Excel/VBA) into modern languages, and oversee junior staff members on transformation projects. This position requires a deep understanding of reserving principles combined with advanced programming skills, enabling the candidate to communicate technical strategy effectively to both Actuarial and Financial Transformation senior leadership.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Automate Reserving Workflows: Identify, redesign, and migrate manual, spreadsheet-based reserving processes and loss triangles into automated, scalable workflows using Python, R, SQL, or advanced tools.
- →Modernize Reserving Data Pipelines: Partner with the Financial Transformation team to build, optimize, and maintain robust actuarial data pipelines, ensuring clean, structured, and timely financial data for valuation.
- →Enhance Quarterly/Annual Valuation Efficiency: Improve reserving frameworks to significantly reduce quarterly closing cycle times and operational risk.
- →Bridge Actuarial and Financial Transformation Teams: Act as the primary technical liaison to align actuarial reserving data architecture with broader corporate finance systems and transformation initiatives.
- →Design Financial Presentations: Communicate complex reserving data architecture, data flows, and automation outcomes into clear, impactful visual presentations for finance and executive decision-makers.
- →Maintain Governance & Compliance: Ensure all automated data processes adhere to internal model governance policies, SOX controls, financial reporting standards, and external audit compliance requirements.
Requirements
~1 min read- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Data Science, Computer Science, Finance, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
- Actuarial Progress: Near-ACAS/ACAS or equivalent reserving-focused credentialing, with strong experience working directly within a valuation department.
- Programming Skills: Advanced proficiency in Python or R, and SQL. Experience with cloud financial databases and business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is highly desirable.
- Experience: 4+ years of actuarial experience, with a proven track record of successfully optimizing or automating financial, valuation, or reserving workflows.
The expected salary range for this role is $85,000-$150,000/year.
